    I liked Crash..

I want to see NCFOM, There will be blood, Juno and Atonement. We are just behind on the US with most movies here.

Its really good, the Jimmy Kimmel thing, but how do you Americans live with that constant bleeping sound.. it would be so much better if you didnt constantly hear: I am beeeeeeeep en Affleck.. I am beeeeeeeeep en Affleck..

Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

      THINK OF THE CHILDREN, GAL!

Any good American knows that the TV is the lowest-priced babysitter around, so if you have to go get a beer, talk on the phone, etc--BAM! Sit the kid in front of the TV and go! It's that easy! What would happen if little Billy heard a bad word on TV? It just might be the end of the world, since American parents are faaaaaar too busy being self-absorbed to explain things to their own children.

I agree with you, but the FCC here already gets complaints from stupid "parental decency" groups here about words like "damn". It's getting better, since late-night shows (mostly cable networks, no "big" networks) are starting to be able to loosen up and allow cursing, but the overwhelming truth is that we have an extremely vocal minority who believe that Jesus is going to personally burninate their faces if "fuck" comes out of anyone's mouth on TV uncensored.
Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

The best thing we got outside of HBO is Comedy Central for that. Which isn't saying much...

A&E man, Breaking Bad has all types of shit going on.

FX comes in for us sometimes, sometimes.

No, Crash was poorly written, blunt tripe. Go watch Do the Right Thing.

And Vyk, what do you mean by the Silence of the Lambs comment? Do you mean that the actor who played the Angel of Death is comparable to Hanibal Lecter because they're both psychotics?

Or perhaps that Tommy Lee Jones' "old man" character can be likened to Starling?

What about it makes it a better model for serial killer story?

                Not arguing, but genuinely curious.

I would say I turned out fine despite hearing dirty words on tv and seeing naked women on our public channels..

I would say you didn't. Europeans are all morally corrupt neanderthals.

PS: Crash was a cluster-fuck of pretension.

I'll partially agree, these movies will be forgotten and only remembered in film art books that examine them. I liked crash but I've got to say the only reason it may be remembered is because people remember it as the movie that's about racism.

Speaking of Crash I was at The Hour today and Ryan Phillippe was a guest, he was talking about his new movie 'Stop Loss'. It's about a decorated war hero who returns home from Iraq only to find out that he's expected to serve another tour in Iraq. Kimberly Pierce who wrote the film was also a guest, she said that 'Stop Loss Policy' has affected over 80 thousand Americans.

Except for the fact that it's an MTV movie, which usually directly translates into CRAPFEST.

I'll pass judgment after I download it, I expect it to be mediocre. I'm not donating any money to any studios before I know it's worth seeing on a big screen.

Have you heard about the government "wounded solider bonus back" ordeal? Basically a number of soliders that have gotten wounded while serving and cannot continue to serve, have had the government send them letters asking for portions of their signing bonus back.

That's fucking disgusting. How can you read that and feel like we're doing anything to honor these people who gave their heart, body, and soul to their country. It's sad that these people don't get more respect for giving everything they had for a cause most of them didn't sign up for. It's astonishing that we're making these people's life harder, it's just something you have to shake your head at and ask why?
