ok now that I am reasonably sober and realized that there is more to my list than I needed at the time (forgot to include video games, new car, laptop, beer and other alcoholic beverages, as well as random spending money and utlities shit that i will probably end up spending) so the guestimated price I brought myself to say was around 150-200k...

To be safe while including price changes around the world I will just go ahead and say 500,000 USD (pretty much doubled what I calculated) will make me financially secure.

half a million dollars can go a long way when you don't care that much about owning shit. I pretty much live day to day scraping money around for booz and weed, but still manage to eat, shower and do laundry and shit with the little amount of money I have (I love over-protected parents when it comes to financial need)

and this was to say if I lived for the next 50 years without any more financial income.

PS. Having a lot of money isn't something that motivates me. I'd rather be a humble hermit living off the land than filthy rich. ^-^
No shit? NO drugs? Serious? What prompted that change? Do tell the story.

I think It'd be a fun and worthwhile life living green off the land and not going for all the possessions. Only thing is that I'd like to travel. Maybe with selling energy back to power companies I'd have airfair and then be able to stay in green co-ops around the world, who knows.
I came, I saw, I lagged out...

70,000-100,000 a year. If I had a few million I wouldn't need to work at all and I don't think I would like that.

$120,000 annually. Good news for the realist in me: after about 15 years in the aerospace industry, I might be making that.

I know this sounds like a cop out, but...

                    I was high when I wrote that and misread. It's $40 flat rate...and I'm a moron.

you can never really be financially safe from anything. let's say you get that 30 million dollars and some asshole sues the heck out of you. even if you don't lose, you'll lose an assload of money, and he's surely not going to have any sympathy for some millionaire. you don't think it can happen, but just wait untill you slip up and someone tries to steal your money from you. So if you do get that 30 million, i'd suggest buying a "20 million dollar" trailer out in bumfuck and go bury that shit or something. I'm not really sure how the irs would handle you writing off ur 20 million on a mobile home purchase, but once ur net worth drops and you got that stash pot, ur set.

I'm doing pretty well on my current salary. In my first year of work after college I'm able to support a wife and dog, own a house and 2 cars, and live with reasonable comforts without any debt besides a small student loan and a mortgage. I expect my income to grow approx. 30% each year, so I'm not at all worried. Then again I'm the kind of person who could lose it all and still be happy....
