and that is so NOT a circle around that barn, is the horse orbiting the barn in an elliptical fashion?
ya he is, cuz he's attached to a corner of the barn and no to the barns center, get with it bruh

      help quick

show work, all of it. please thanks.

its a barn, cows don't graze in barns

doesn't say if door is open or where door is and that would form a new point for the radius of the remaining rope to calculate area reachable out side off barn

it doesn't say there is grass outside the barn or if there is big rocks hedges affecting the route

      so the answer is

DON'T KNOW GIMME MORE INFO but that is a stupid length of tether if you not going to open the doors bitch

otherwise you could do a minimum and maximum for a door located at the opposite corner and one that is where the tether is and say if there is an open door the grazing should be within these limits in an ideal field scenario

in all seriousness, the internet is infinitly big. if this problem is as well known as i think it is, i'm sure there's a website somewhere with the answer. Google it? hell, they might even have a neat little applet to show you the work. i know i've looked up at least 3 or 4 problem like this when i was taking honors math.

and i think that the cow is tethered outside the barn, can't go in it, and wouldn't want to. (if there's two doors, and the rope can go through the barn instead of around it, the problem's just too complicated) - if it's a trick question, then the answer is infinity, the cow chews through the rope.

3/4s of this problem is incredibly easy (woulda been much better with round barn!) i'll take a few mins and edit it with the ans

the answer is (drumroll plz) : 30,972.7609 ft

how did i get this answer? using a CAD program to draw it and magically compute the area.

if you want to get credit for showing the work, ill show you how to draw it, and maybe your teacher won't ask how you figured out all of the numbers.

the place i got stuck was finding out the angles of sectors 4 and 5. finding out the area of the triangles can be done easily with trig (you know the side of the barn, and the angle is 90-angle from sector) i guess if you have to, say you drew it on graph paper and measured it with a protractor

edit: i just noticed you really cant see the picture, not sure how resize/host pics anymore. here's teh link where i posted it though http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/5...problemvh9.png

                well mother fucking computer geek-hole

                i went one bett3r

i did it old school not even needing no Computer Aided Design

I got a cow and tied it to a barn with a 100ft rope

you know what a real cow did ?? The REAL answer ? not sum fancy pancy simulation !!

It just stood there looking at me with big sad cow eyes

thats it thats all it did

after an hour i felt guilty and since it wasn't my cow and i was trespassing in the barn i untied and let it go and scarpered

not really sure what scarpering is, but i hope it doesn't involve the cow
