one of their requirements is being drug free for the past 12 months...it's the only time in the past year that I've smoked, and it wasn't even that much

couple of weeks from now DTF, I'd have to apply, pass the written exam and the CPAT (think firefighter obstacle course with weights). I just don't want to already have my chances fucked, especially with 420 so close by

if you drink plenty of water (be sure to piss often) and sweat it out (exercise), then you should be fine.

If it's been a few weeks and the drug test isn't for another couple weeks, then I would say you really have nothing to worry about. Unless they test your hair, which works like the rings of a tree, only it's spots along the length of your hair. B)

Depends if they take hair samples or not. Cleanse your body for the next couple of days. Drink 1-2 gallons of water add a taplespoon of vinegar. I'm guessing that the test will be blood and urine. Weed usually stays in your urine for 3-5 days, blood for 30 days and hair up to 12 months. You might be fucked. Hope not though...


To be on the safe side:

Shave your head
Drinks lots of water.
Like Gran said exercise.
Also watch your salt intake. Obviously the more salt you take in the more water you retain.
High Fiber diet
Finally drink some herbal teas

a hair test MIGHT show it... but i doubt it. even so, the amount is negligible enough to chalk it up to error. government uses piss tests, hair tests are still relatively expensive

You should be good with the test, after a couple of weeks precious few substances would be detectable after only 1 use. Positive hair testing is still possible, but highly unlikely. Shave you head now if you are unsure, by the time of the drug test you will have short hair again and will be 100% clean no matter what.
I still think it is hypocritical one is allowed (socially acceptable even) to drink himself/herself into a stupor weekly but not having a blunt once a month though.

And yes, in drug tests they test with highly specific methods for certain drugs and metabolites. If you could be arsed you could take designer drugs that wouldnt show up on regular drug screening for example.
Poppy seeds will give you a false positive for opium for example, but THC metabolites will show up on a different test meaning you could be fucked for both. (Aside from the fact they won't believe you just ate poppies if you also use weed).

Edit: according to a CDC fact sheet on THC metabolite screening in drug tests (http://www.cdc.gov/MMWR/preview/mmwrhtml/00000138.htm)

If a history of marijuana use is the major reason for screening, the urine test for cannabinoids should be able to detect prior use for up to 2 weeks in the casual user and possibly longer in the chronic user.

Also, don't be a guido and go "d-toxing" with any kind of shit, diluted piss will make them more aware of the fact you could be using drugs and helps you minimally. I would also not recommend you suddenly do more or less workouts than normal since the metabolites are fat stored. You will be fine =)
