something i've noticed because of gas prices

We hit 1.60 Euros this week.

When I get to the US I am gonna go drink gas and laugh because it is so dirt cheap.

During the summer I'm going to start biking to work, even though that means leaving 45 minutes - 1 hour early

Even if you go from vienna all the way in to DC, it's still wayyyyy better than driving in on 66. And if you have to drive to park in vienna to take the metro, it's still better than getting to DC by car.

On another note, moving to clarendon to be by the metro was probably one of the best ideas I've ever had.


edit: it's 3.75 here now. I went home to PA for mother's day... cost me a full tank of gas. Turned out to be 65 bucks. Ouch.

My apartment is right in the middle of Fairfax, over by Fair Oaks mall. I have to get on 50 west, then 66 west, then 495-North, then 270 North just to get to my job in Maryland. Shit usually takes an hour of driving, and there isn't a metro stop in walking distance of my job. So it kinda sucks, especially when it's rainy like it is today. Thank god for my zune.

Also gas is like 3.85 for plus, and like 3.95 for premium, I don't know if you and face just like to put regular in your cars..

I used to come into DC from New Carollton all the time back in the day.

Sadly I won't be taking the metro for most of my trip. I can walk to the VRE which will take me into L'Enfant, then it's just two stops on the green line to the Navy Yard where I'll be working.

Yeah the metro is way better than driving to most places but it's hardly a "yay" proposition.

I live right by Vienna metro and I still hate taking it all the way into DC.

Is anyone else using non-automotive means to get around?

Since gas prices have spiked so high I decided to break out my skateboard for the first time in a couple of years. I'm addicted again. Not only do I save money, but it's good excercise, it makes me tired and helps me fall asleep at night, and I've fallen back in love with the feeling of having the wind go through my hair (or lack thereof these days).

I'm always super tired because I skate to work and school everyday, but it's worth it.
