i worked on my truck some and wound up improving my mileage dramatically. apparently the previous owner had never changed the fuel filter, which wound up clogging the fuel injectors and straining the serpentine belt so i had to replace all three. i originally thought the problem was the starter (since the injectors were clogged, it took a few cranks to get the engine started).

i love rednecks. i was outside of my house trying to start my truck and my neighbor came over and was like "yup, sounds like a fuel line problem", and i was like "not the starter?" and he was like "sumbitch, i built this truck, it's not the starter" (he's a worker at the local GM plant which now makes H3's). his genetically-superior oneness with vehicles saved me money - didn't have to buy a new starter, and now i pay 30 bucks a week for gas, since i never drive more than half a tank now

Hey I'm pretty damn happy about the prices for gas. For Christ's sake, it takes millions of years to create, and it's so cheap. Take a look at some of these in comparison.

Product - Unit Cost - Price per Gallon
Lipton Ice Tea - $1.19/16 oz - $9.52 per gallon

      Ocean Spray - $1.25/16 oz - $10.00 per gallon

      Gatorade - $1.59 /20 oz - $10.17 per gallon

      Diet Snapple
      (preferably Peach) - $1.29/16 oz - $10.32 per gallon

      Evian water - $1.49 /9 oz - $21.19 per gallon

      Whiteout - $1.39 /7 oz - $25.42 per gallon

      Brake Fluid - $3.15/12 oz - $33.60 per gallon

      Scope - $0.99/1.5 oz - $84.48 per gallon

      Vick's Nyquil - $8.35/6 oz - $178.13 per gallon

      Pepto Bismol - $3.85/4 oz - $123.20 per gallon

Since gas prices have spiked so high I decided to break out my skateboard for the first time in a couple of years. I'm addicted again. Not only do I save money, but it's good excercise, it makes me tired and helps me fall asleep at night, and I've fallen back in love with the feeling of having the wind go through my hair (or lack thereof these days).

I'm always super tired because I skate to work and school everyday, but it's worth it.
not when you work 20+ miles away from where you live it isn't

yeah. It's definitely something that can only be done when everything is pretty localized.

Last I saw was something like 1.61 for 95 unleaded.

Toronto has very good transit especially in the downtown core. There's no subway connecting the Greater Toronto Area, Mississauga and other cities could have 30 years ago but decided against it fearing it would cause more problems then solve.
GO Transit (Ontario's inter-provincial transit) is expanding now but it's too little too late in my opinion, the trains are always full and so are the buses. I'm lucky enough to live 10 minutes from a train station and it takes just under an hour each way to work (40KM). They are double-deck diesel locomotives, not exactly envriomentally friendly but I would guess they can hold 60 people on a single deck (more if standing).

my car has broken down for the past several weeks, so I been walking, bumming rides and taking the UCF shuttle bus to get to campus. It sucks asking people to drive you somewhere but the only times I asked was to pick up weed and I smoke em out afterwards, so it wasn't that big of a deal. My new place is pretty tight too because its nothin but stoners and one of em deals so now I dont have to go anywhere. Im livin the cheap life.

I'm in the same boat I take the transit to and from my campus and then if my friends/girlfriend (god bless my girlfriend for being okay with driving me places, she's friggin awesome) want to go out one of them has to drive. I think most of my friends are understanding, if they have a car it's because their rents' are co-signing their insurance or paying for the gas. I think as long as you're not a bitch and expect rides and try to throw them money towards gas they're cool with driving.

I've had problems with some friends getting mad at me for me asking them to drive me home or something, but usually we lived 3-4 minutes away and I was drunk as fuck. There's been a few times when a friend (what a bitch) got extremely mad at me for asking, but we lived practically across the street and it would have costed me $20 to cab it home, I even told her if it's about time constraints then I could just walk home from her house which at the time was across one street and down another. That shit kind of defines your friends, she offers drives to my other friend who lives 2 minutes away as well so it's like she doesn't mind driving people. I pretty much just get tired of lousy piece of shit friends who are all drama and fake 90% of their emotions.

Sometimes I just throw my friends a 10 cause I would have had to dish out a 20 to get home, There's no way in fuck that they used more than a dollar or two to get me home especially if they live close.

My ex-boyfriend used to make me pay for rides when I needed them after school. Granted, I did live at least 15 miles away from him, but still. This was back when gas was under $2 too! :stuart:

You probably were one of those girls who wore a t-shirt that said "I Love My Boyfriend" but on the contrary to your true feelings.

that's balls, but 15 miles there and back is kind of a bitch. My girlfriend's never asked for gas money, thankfully but I do pay for a lot of dates.

car ran out of gas today
i have 700$~ left for the summer (so long as I don't get a job) so gas, now fittingly 3.85-3.99 a barrel, allows me little room to buy any. So i'm bummin' it in my friend's basement and my house, relying on rides both ways.

get an easy job if you have any opportunities for such. I know working at a movie theater wasn't great but at least I got paid $8 and hour and got to see free movies. I didn't work at all this year and ate through so much OSAP money (student loans).
