Personal preference. Some people can play a round with only a driver. I'll have a driver or two plus a putter. I like to use the oh so original term of baggots for those people.

I've considered tour events as they have them in my area...that was until I saw the participants. They take everything way too seriously. I may be pretty good, but they play nearly everyday. So unless you have mad skills, stay away.

i dont see the point of comparing ultimate and disc golf, but if we have to....ultimate wins.

that's what i thought. I can hold par occasionally at the course i play at all the time. It's so tight that you can't make a 50 yd drive, so it kinda evens the playing field. No way I could make the putts they make though; 20 yds or more! My short game sucks, but I can bend a disc around trees like nobody's business

yeah you're right, there's not too much point in comparing them: one's a team sport and the other's and individual's game. I guess I'm just biased against all the skinny hippies that suddenly considered themselves athletes since they found something to do besides run cross country. Nothing against runners, but you run in most 'real' sports anyway.

I play with three discs. A star plastic wraith as my driver, a champion plastic buzz as midrange/approach, and some kind of putter with Jerry Garcia's face on the front. I've played in some tournaments but never the real thing. I live in Augusta and a couple of years ago they had the disc golf world championships here and me and my buddy went and watched. It was cool.

cool man, are there any courses in augusta worth the 1.5 hr drive? I drive that way 1-2x a year to meet my little brother in atlanta so i might check em out. I'd say if you're ever in columbia to check out the Owen's Field course. it's not the prettiest, but it is one of the hardest. Plus, most of the time you can play with blunt in hand, as it's in the woods in a big park. The Earlewood course is much more professionally done, but it's crowded and you can't smoke there.

Yeah definitely. There are like 5 courses in the area. They just built the new national course down by the lake. Pendleton king park in downtown Augusta is really nice as well.

Wow I never realized disc golf was so...professional. My memory of it is from PE, when a hole was a hula hoop and you had 1 frisbee to try and throw in the hoop. I didnt even know actual courses exist for this game, let alone different kinds of frisbees. sheesh

bunch of girls playing in the first part of that clip

                        credibility destroyed
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Any girl who can lay out can play with me. I'd rather be tackling girls than guys =) ... and in my book anything that involves a lack of running is a hobby or game, not a sport (frisbee golf).

I didn't see any real impressive throws in that clip, mostly just tossing it up which anybody can do. Really the only difference in caliber between those and what I play/see on the drillfield every week in pickup games is that nobody really goes for a dive when we play. They were very acrobatic, I'll give them that. Then again you don't know how many plays were edited out, we could probably compile something of that length in 2 or 3 games.

yeah, i was going to say that i wasn't too impressed with the quality of the game. aside from some impressive individual athletic feats, there was very little strategy that was involved....although for a promo vid that probably wouldn't be very exciting. all in all, i could have seen the same thing at our weekly games
