Smokers doesn't really choose to smoke either. If you have bad luck with your classmates and the environment at ages 14-17 you aren't adult enough to make that choice for the rest of your life. I'm quite certain that a majority of those who picks up smoking did it because of pressure in their youth. Some will be exposed to worse environments than others, in my case I think almost everyone in my class smoked. I was weak then, and easily influenced, and I see most kids in that age being exactly like that.

It's not like those who begins to smoke comes from smokefree environments and suddenly goes "I'm going to start smoking!" one day.

This should be the last argument needed against Louis' troll attempt.

Hi, for those who accuse smokers of being very dumb, bad people and such. and of course expensive considering the taxpayers money.... that is all true but... leave the poor smokers alone! i've smoked for like 4 past years (marlboro all the way) and am actually quitting cz its so damn pricey. healt is not a factor for me

well anyways. go pick on the fat folk. obesity is at least as bad as smoking. You choose to be fat, you die younger, and of course they get very ill too and we dear taxpayers have to pay for it. i'd rather smoke then weigh like a rhino. if you are obesed and smoke... well life sucks. you should get rid of at least one nasty way of life.

however, i've seen a huge number of people around my age quit smoking, as opposed to people who started at teh same age, but have been smoking for 20+ yrs. I don't know if it's because they've smoked for so long that the addiction continues to grow and get stronger, or because today's youths realize that they'll significantly improve their health if they quit. Maybe older people don't care as much if they improve their health? I quit because they taste like shit, and don't get you high, not b/c of health reasons.
