  • PC build for the critics

For those who know how to biuld a PC from scratch, gonna post my build for everyone to criticize. Just finished this mofo yesturday, monster output!

    Motherboard- Asus P5N 750i nForce
Processor- Intel Q6600 core 2 quad (overclocked to 3.6ghz on air cooling)
Hard drive- Western digital Raptor 10000 rpm 160gb SATA
    RAM- Mushkin 4gb (2gb x 2) DDR2 800, CAS Latency is at 4
Video Card- 2 x EVGA 8800gts G92 in SLi mode (auto overclocked)
Physics card- Ageia physx from nVidia (takes off physics processing from cpu)
Soundcard- Creative platinuum F4tality (nuff said)
    Case- Apevia x-plorer mid ATX
Powersupply- POWerUP 800 watt psu with sli support
Cooler- G-power 2 pro from gigabyte, cpu air cooler (very big cpu fan)
optical drive- Phillips 20x dvd burner with lightscribe
Monitor- 22" Samsung touch of color lcd monitor

This whole build was just a bit under $1,000 US dollars and it packs a punch. Some parts I got from newegg.com and others I got from local resellers and theives. If you were to purchase all these parts from newegg, it will come out to be around $1,300, not bad for a sick gaming computer in my opinion.

By the way, I run Crysis at full blast on the highest settings with 40-50 FPS.

LOL! I can imagine why someone would build a PC like this for Subspace, I use it for PC hungry games like aoc or crysis!

Forgot to add the operating system: Windows Vista 64 bit home premium for system builders. Here comes the Vista criticism posts!

Which Vista Home Premium did you get? I checked on newegg (link) and there are a ton of "different" ones that are probably all the same. I just have no idea if getting the $99 one will have me missing out on anything as opposed to the $329 (why the hell would I pay that?)

        Edit: I'm also going 64-bit

I puchased the vista for system builders $99, if it says Home premium 64 bit, its the same exact as the $129 for upgrade. The only difference being that your starting from scratch, there is no upgrade from xp to vista. This version is intended for pc builds.

The only thing missing in the $99 o/s is the drivers...which come from the manufacturer anyway and its free to download. For example, if you bought a wireless adaptor for your PC, you will have to search online from that specific manufacturer for the driver in order to make that wireless adaptor work. Sounds very simple, but everyone doesn't know that and they blame Vista. Thats why its not popular.

Also, if your getting 64bit, make sure you do a lot of research for programs. Windows is the only company that makes 64bit o/s (xp or vista) out and not that many companies support it because of its complexity.

Rumor has it they are creating windows 7 already, to replace vista in as soon as 1-1/2 year.

The $329 version is a 3 pack. 3 same version packs are included in that buy! Hope that helps

Yeah, downloading drivers isn't a problem. I'm just building the one PC for myself so that will work fine.

A CPU (Central Processing Unit) aka Processor i.e Pentium 4 Processor unit, I cannot build that. But I can explain how to build PC (Personal Computer) step by step with the components mentioned in the post above!

Its actually very easy and saves you money, the PC I built will cost you atleast $5,000 in retail with no overclocking and programs you wont even use. Save the cash and build one!

This URL is an example of an overpriced gaming rig ($3,500) using the exact components I did w/o the overclock.

The stock CPU is the core 2 quad QX9450 at 2.66ghz

My CPU is the core 2 quad Q6600 at 3.6ghz (shaw-zing)

Meant to add "stable" in order to overclock, and yes, windows has the only O/S at 64 bit stable enough to overclock a cpu....
