terrorism in 2008

i got bored so i looked up some statistics on terrorist bombings (ok i looked at the wikipedia page and copied it)

Since the begging of the year, there have been 91 terrorist attacks reported worldwide. That's roughly 1 attack every 55 hrs.

1298 people have been killed do to terrorist attacks. That's roughly 6 people a day.

I didn't even bother to count the injuries, i didn't have that much time.

16 of the attacks (18%) were in Iraq.

13 of the attacks (14%) were in Sri Lanka <----- I had no idea they had it so bad

10 attacks in pakistan
8 attacks in afganistan
8 attacks in Israel/palestine
6 attacks in India
.
.
.
1 attack in USA (2 days ago - shooting spree)
1 attack in UK (no deaths i believe)


A vast majority of attacks were improvised explosives.
A suprising amount of the attacks were carried out by female suicide bombers.

One organization was recently banned here for helping support the Tamil Tigers, acting as a front charity that preyed on the Tamil community for support. yeah if you want to check out an epic post battle, just look at the wiki articles on the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). There's a lot of conspiracy/controversy on the article because of Pro-LTTE editors in Sri Lanka trying to make them not look like terrorists. Yeah they do a lot of good for some ppl in SL, but they also bomb buses and use suicide bombers as a main way of assassination. Hell, they're the first terrorist organization to have an airforce. A lot of talk about Norway's support for the LTTE too, when 30+ countries call it a "terrorist" organization, including the EU.
