Yeah, it's too bad neither Obama nor McCain submitted their tickets for the ballot in Texas by the cutoff (5 pm August 26th). If Texas lawmakers have any sense of "sticking to the rules" only Bob Barr (Libertarian) will be on the ballot. Let's see if Texans actually follow their own law.

The American people (Republican and Democrat alike) can sense the desperation in a move like this, especially on the heels of the "Barack is Paris Hilton celebrity" type of slight. Make no mistake, the McCain campaign is reeling. Whatever you think about Obama, he's run a vicious, timely, and effective campaign and McCain has been playing catch-up since day 1.

The same set team that designed Britney Spear’s last tour has constructed the enormous, Greek-columned stage where Barack Obama will officially accept the Democratic presidential nomination on Thursday, The New York Post reports.

The set, which was reportedly designed to resemble the White House and Lincoln Memorial, was built inside the 75,000-seat stadium — Invesco Field at Mile High in Denver — under the direction of Bobby Allen, Spears’ former staging manager.

“We would have expected to read something like this in The Onion. Fortunately for us, it’s true. Unfortunately for Obama, it’s true,” a McCain adviser told the paper.

The elaborate set design has prompted ridicule from the McCain campaign and other Republicans, who mocked its ornate lay-out. The McCain campaign was quick to release a memo calling it the “Temple of Obama” and the Republican National Committee dubbed it “Barackopolis.”

“It’s only appropriate that Barack Obama would descend down from the heavens and spend a little time with us mere mortals when accepting the Democratic nomination,” RNC spokesman Danny Diaz told the Post.

But Spears’ stage manager defended his design, telling the paper it in no way represents the Acropolis.

“We’ve done Britney’s sets and a whole bunch of rock shows, but this was far more elaborate and complicated and we had to do it in far less time,” Allen said. “The biggest challenge has been making sure we don’t damage the playing field underneath.”

How does one figure on this gaining the womens vote? Ferraro lost 80% of the women when she ran as VP.

On another note...she publicly says she is against pork spending and was against the bridge to nowhere, yet she was all for it and pushed for it in 2006? Flip flop already on your stance when you speak for the 1st time during an acceptance to a nomination of VP? Come on.

I just think it was a bad pick and I would much rather have seen Romeny, Ridge or even Huckabee over this tart.

She sued the Fed. and the Environmental Protection aganecy with tax payers money, of all thing of such importance as to remove the Polar Bear from the endangered species list! What a gem. Let her shine!!!
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

Well if it came down to it 404, I would have much rather seen Bobby Jindal honestly, but at the same time I understand why McCain made this decision.

Palin won't make conservatives run away from McCain, in fact in Alaska, she is known as a reform governor, who cut government spending and power. Which is basic principals of being a conservative. She is a family woman, with kids, who isn't seen as being out of touch with the community due to the fact that she came up from nothing, still has a husband who is a blue collar worker, loves sports, hunting, and is a lifetime member of the NRA.

Now with that in mind, how would this be a bad decision for McCain. This will balance out all the idiots who are voting for Obama because "hes black and so am I" with other idiots who will now vote for McCain because "Palin is a woman and so am I" so the playing field is now level. On top of that it points out McCain's pro-life policies and good moral values due to the fact that she personally could have taken an easier route and aborted her last child who she knew before it was born would have down syndrome. We know that she will actually care about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan because her oldest son is enlisted in the military. And the finishing touch is the fact that all of the Clinton supporters who might have once decided to vote for Obama due to Hillary's lackluster speech on why they should, now have someone new to want to see succeed. Someone they can look up to, and associate with.

I see Obama bringing up her inexperience, although she is just going to be the Vice President, not the President, and she still has more qualifications than Obama does, not to mention more experience in running the executive side of a state, than Obama himself does, while he is running for a president.

So with this pick McCain gains the following groups of citizens.

              1. Women
              2. Conservatives
              3. Christians
              4. Military

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, the fact that he made this controversial choice a day after Obama's big shitty anti-American speech, is even better. Not even the fawning Obama media is talking about it anymore, they are too busy trying to dig up dirt on Palin and disecting McCains choice. Also I see someone said that hopefully democrats will see this for what it is, but they won't. Democrats try to gain their votes from the least educated voters, the most ignorant people, the most illegal of minorities. I doubt they will understand this tactic in its full extent.
funny thing about this, i was watching fox news the morning when this was announced and i coulda sworn i heard this exact thing, at least the beginning of it. unfortunately for mccain this pick may backfire if obama's camp goes on the attack because she has some question marks in her background, they just better hope nothing surfaces by the GE date. desperation to snag hillary voters becuase he is gettin demolished by an enormous margin in the woman vote and an attempt to reach out to conservative christians while simultaneously undercutting his primary argument (no not that he was a POW although thats what it seems like) "i have more experience". overall its a risky pick that can probably help his chances more than biden did for obama's as long as none of her question marks surface...that being said obama can fill an 85k stadium mccain has trouble fielding 10k

Another rumor is that Palin's last kid was actually her daughter's. And by rumor, I mean a fact that Palin has denied even though it's fairly obvious.

                        EDIT: Proof

This definitely doesn't help the already weakened McCain campaign from a pubicity standpoint, but to make a big deal of this and just use it as a conservative blasting point (a favorite pasttime of many, especially among the young voter crowed - LOL MCCAIN IS SUPER OLD) is pretty silly in my eyes. Obama admitted to past drug use, Palin's daughter is pregnant. McCain has probably killed people (possibly lots), G-Dub did lots of coke. They're people just like you and I, and they do and say stupid shit just like you and I...just under a much bigger media microscope.

If Obama ran on a drug policy campaign and/or tried to increase anti-drug classes, then I would agree that he would be completely hypocritical. But she ran and won in Alaska for being a moralist -- family values, pro-life, abstinence only education, anti-contraceptive. It just doesn't make sense.
