Do you know how difficult space power satellites would be to service compared to ground solar farms, because of the above launch costs?

Not trying to dispell the notion of SPS here. It really is a great idea and will probably be how the Earth will be powered, perhaps a century from now. But with launch costs the way they are now and no cheaper/better fuel solutions than LOX/LH2 and Hydrazine, it's going to be a while before this is feasible.
Which is why we (the world) need to build a space elevator.

I'd love to be a part of that project.

I bet he would argue that the 2nd amendment is not outdated.

Conc, I think you need to take a step back. As much as I don't normally agree with him, Wark has a point, this guy was a terrorist. If you go around wanting to build bombs knowing that innocents may be killed to further your point (whatever it is), it's terrorism. While the founding fathers may have been participating in acts of sabotage and subversion, this guy was clearly doing it for grand displays to prove his point while not actually hurting the war in any way (he wasn't going around making airplanes destined for Vietnam not work or something).

The more important issue is that this Ayers guy really has nothing to do with Obama, more than being in the same place with Obama at the same time. Since that does not appear to be the case, the entire discussion a moot point.

No, his target for the bombs that his group were making WAS a military training base (as well as Columbia University, whom he thought was proliferating the idea of active engagement). The base was one of the ones that soldiers would funnel through before heading to Vietnam. So technically, yes, his intention was to hurt the war (not necessarily to boost his own image), however misguided it was.

Not to mention the fact that he's talking about the Bill Ayers of today, as opposed to the 1972 Bill Ayers. Again, context has something to do with it. Maybe I'm crazy.

you should have agreed on the grounds that the amendment is revised so you can kill him.

                      • So you want to vote for McCain then, if you are so shocked by the fact that this kid said that the first amendment right is outdated. Perhaps you should look up some conversations with Obama about the second amendment. And you should also be very very scared if you care about our amendments to know that the fact that American's are still legally able to carry guns was won by ONE vote in the supreme court, by a supreme court justice appointed by President Bush. People keep dodging the problem with Obama and some of his past friends.. but don't you think this kind of poor judgment will pour over into his picks for his supreme court justices...

Actually I'm more scared that most Americans are permitted to carry guns. Period.

                          • Try looking at it this way, if you were a criminal, you wouldn't go through the trouble of going to get a concealed hand gun license. All passing a gun law would do.. besides starting the ruination of our freedoms.. would be to stop people who go through the trouble of getting licensed and who buy guns legally from having them. Criminals don't buy guns legally, they aren't licensed, because they are criminals.. So, it would just be stopping the people who want the guns to protect themselves from having them, while telling people who use guns to commit crimes that they are a lot safer than they used to be.

I'm no Constitutional expert but I believe the First Amendment is the basis for all rights granted by the United States Constitution. To challenge it means questioning the very basis on which Western Civilization was founded upon.
