Glad you feel that way. If you're so gung-ho about protecting American interests abroad you're more than welcome to serve a tour in Iraq. I'm sure the US Army would be happy to have you.

voting for obama
someone said "in mccain and obama's last debate mccain showed he was superior" you my friend are an idiot, mccain has refused to be on the same stage as obama as much as possible on the basis of being much shorter, much worse of a speaker, and the inability to lift his arms above his shoulders. the camera loves obama, it makes mccain look like a fossil even more.
for those who say "the lesser of two evils" i would say you really are stupid in this case. why am i voting obama? simply put, the man can inspire the uninspired, whereas when i listen and read mccains views he is completely uninspired. i hear something new from obama, and i hear the same recycled conservative bullshit that dug us into the largest debt per capita from mccain. i do understand that his 90% agreement record w/ george bush probably isn't entirely his fault, after all it is political suicide to disagree w/ your party and their fundamental values so often. overall mccain is a desperate man, he seeks to be "an agent of change" so much because that is apparently what the american public wants right now that he undercuts his entire experience argument by picking a woman as his VP.
now as for energy policy, mccain's current policy is "hey everybody lets drill all over the fucking place in our country, which if we put it on a crash course and funneled all your tax dollars into (oh btw which im going to have to hike up to fund my permanent basis in iraq for the next 50 years and all this drilling) will be up in 5 years. yep thats 5 years of your money for a temporary solution to our problems, and oh btw...lets put dick into alternative energy." whereas obama wants to put a shit ton into researching alternative energy because if we are the first to come up w/ alternative energy that can compete w/ opec (china wont develop AE they have no reason to w/ their cheap ass oil pipeline that is preventing the UN from stopping a genocide). a long term solution that could end up being a massive export and make us rich off our ass? hmmmmm ill take the chance @ making it big over the expensive makeshift bandage fix on energy
as for pandagirl's "i dont like a specific timeline on withdraw from iraq" they told us they want us the fuck out in a year, thats not us talking. (hey didnt obama say withdraw in his first 11 months of presidency? hey good call, good judgement, man isnt that what you want in a president?)
wark took an obama quote out of context that he picked up from one of mccain's latest attack ads in obama saying "iran is a small country that poses very little threat" what he left out was "compared to russia and china", but hey thats the media for you.
and I found it funny how in the first few posts wark agreed w/ someone...think it was 404 who spoke about how people should be accountable for their actions, and he is a mccain supporter; yet i heard obama talking quite extensively on the accountability of parents for their kids and that we hold our youth accountable too in his DNC address, but hey what was i listening to right?
all this said, i do live in seattle, one of the most liberal cities in the USA, but i am very open minded about politics. here's what i don't understand though, when you try something and fail, what do you do? try a different way or change your approach, you don't try it the same way again. so why would anyone vote for mccain? you want to try the same things again and see this time if it works out for the better? fat chance. cut taxes and increase spending should die w/ bush and a guy who admits he knows dick about economy will probably just follow the herd of cattle off the cliff. i want something different and something inspiring. even if some of you view obama as the slimmest chance in hell that we are going to improve as a country, thats more than your getting from mccain. honestly for republicans, mccain is just a stall tactic, hes a maybe passable canidate in office who will fuck up bad, but not TERRIBLY as to lose them future elections and support while they wait for a godsend. people voting for mccain are usually voting for him simply because they dont want to vote for obama. obama is the democratic party's godsend that could change politics as a whole (which would be nice) and people who vote for obama usually tend to want him in office and feel inspired by him, not because they dont like mccain. vote a president out of inspiration or out of spite, you pickTWDT Head Op Seasons 2, 3, and 4

and even if we were holding people accountable for their own actions in this country kids are the wrong place to start. Parenting goes a very long way to influence them...I'm just a middle-aged, middle-eastern camel herdin' man

------------------------------------------------
Many problems were occuring in the 1900s, and hitler offered a scapegoat, and solution for EVERY problem, and stricly focused on Germany and no other outside countries, boosting socialism and nationalism, and created a unified Germany.
It was rather frightening.. so he used that amazing speech capability of his and the promise to get Germany out of the economic slum it had become and became fairly powerful. then, Hindenburg, in a (rather vain) attempt to outmaneuver the Nazi party, gave Hitler just the power he needed to put his plan into action. he directed the building of the Autobahn and many other projects (such as the Volkswagen Beatle) and became an economic hero. people LOVED him. so, using that love of himself and the enthusiasm set in motion by his inspiring speeches, Hitler used the next 7-8 years to brainwash his people.
There were a lot of problems in Germany at that time, and Hitler blamed them all on the Jews(Bush) and because he was such a good public speaker, the Germans were talked into thinking it was all the Jews fault. With my savings, I was able to buy one cup and one saucer. Herr Neisse said: “The inflation, you see….
Hitler was a brilliant speaker, and his eyes had a peculiar power over people. He was a good organizer and politician. He was a driven, unstable man, who believed that he had been called by God to become dictator of Germany and rule the world. This kept him going when other people might have given up. His self-belief persuaded people to believe in him.Last edited by kthx; 09-01-2008, 11:51 AM.Rabble Rabble Rabble
