Thats the thing pasc, I grew up here. You are merely a visitor. I don't want to have to wear my coat before Halloween, its like....wrong or something. I had to de-ice my car this morning, and the lake effect snow surely to come in the next couple months is going to temporarily ruin my life, and I'd rather not deal with it again in 2009.

As for all this dry heat, thats fine to me. I spent a year in the dry heat of Iraq, and that made 120 degrees look like a brisk autumn night. What I don't like about AZ and the desert is the extreme changes in temp in just a 24 hour period. You might be having highs in the 90's right now, but its common to get a low in the 30s or 40s in the same day, and thats just insane. In CT year round the temp rarely changes by more than 12-15 degrees or so on any given day.

Anyone reside in northern Florida, like the Jacksonville area? I'm curious to know if they get any snow there, and I would still be in the center of the universe (aka East Standard Time)

It's not only conceited, but also inaccurate, to say that the "heartland" of the USA is the East Coast. That notion painfully fails to recognize that Southern California IS the cultural center of America, and most popular culture trends originate from that culture hub.

Moreover, East Coasters are stuckup. Move to the West Coast.

Disclaimer: I've never lived in California, I just recognize that it's a much bigger deal than someone in New England is willing to admit.

In terms of major cities I'd go with Phoenix. Even after living in Florida for 5 years, walking in to 110 degree heat was a shocker.

i'm fairly sure it doesn't snow in northern florida. i'm also under the impression that you don't want to live in the panhandle (no not because of central time either). i've been to jacksonville 2x, and it's huge. not in terms of people or buildings, but it's spread out. it's also hundreds of miles away from Miami, so that's a plus too.

i really couldn't imagine living in s. california. the differences have to be like night and day. i actually like being able to take a trip to the woods or just not be completely surrounded by people and city. I'd like to visit, but there's a good portion of the country still hoping for CA to sink into the ocean.

Secaucus, NJ With all the chemicals in the air and water, it gives one a fuzzy warm feeling all over

Warm climate huh? And here I am going to be moving to a cooler one. Older I get the more I hate the heat.
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

Death is inevitable, as we are all dying once we are born, I just would rather be skiing or snow boarding and not sweating in a humidity clad city.

                          ...

edit: Hottest place I've been is the grand fucking canyon. No cover in sight during 120 degree heat. Bleh.

New Orleans and Savannah are probably the most balanced heat/mugginess factor in the South. Houston is a huge city, don't go there.

i know, ive experienced them both and live in one.

I'm in Connecticut and its fucking cold already, and I am very highly considering relocating somewhere that is a shit-ton warmer. I considered Phoenix and little hick towns in the Arizona desert, but they get hella cold at night, Hawaii is too expensive, and Key West has too many hurricanes and cubans (hi cripple). Your opinions will most likely be ignored, but feel free to express them anyways.

Note: Don't google "Warmest US cities" and post the link here. I've already done that.
if your a conn kid, you will not survive out in Phoenix. It is absolutely burning down there, i've lived in ohio and the weather here is actually pretty OK. In the winter it's pretty cold not freezing that often. And it is rarely ever super hot. The summers are long, it is still warm now (no sign of cold). I've been tucson, and holy shit i almost shriveled up, too damn hot. You as a Conn. guy will prolly irl die.
