Yeah but I was looking forward to the co-op part with friends at my apt. since my PS3 is seriously lacking in fun get-together type games.

It's not so much a straightforward AI as it is the "director's chair AI" that monitors your progress and previous attempts to see what worked and what failed.

Sure there will only be an X amount of ways to get to Point A to Point B, but it'll be randomly generated based on the success percentage and how "tense" the game will be made over others.

Funny how you can get that from The Simpsons and I can infer the same thing when you mention strategies for playing Princess Peach on Super Smash Bros.

what idiot comes around and tries to repeat what's already been said in a conversation, but pass it off as a condescending internet neckbeard fucking thesis

My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

when nerds talk all i hear is "The Moon and Mars are the most suitable sites for space colonies in the solar system. Mercury and Venus are too hot, while Jupiter and Saturn are gas giants with no solid surface.

The moons of Mars are very small and have no advantages over Mars itself.

Some of the moons of Jupiter and Saturn might be possible. In particular, Titan, a moon of Saturn, is

larger and more massive than other moons and has a dense atmosphere.

The Cassini-Huygens Mission of NASA and ESA has landed a probe on Titan which has sent back pictures of the surface. However, it is very cold, being so far from the sun, and I wouldn't fancy living next to a lake of liquid methane.

What about beyond the solar system? Our observations indicate that a significant fraction of stars have planets around them. So far, we can detect only giant planets like Jupiter and Saturn, but it is reasonable to assume that they will be accompanied by smaller Earth-like planets. Some of these will lay in the [inaudible] zone where the distance from the stars is the right range for liquid water to exist on their surface.

There are around a thousand stars within 30 lightyears of Earth. If 1 percent of each had Earth-size planets in the [inaudible] zone, we would have 10 candidate new worlds. We can revisit it with current technology, but we should make interstellar a long-term aim. By long term, I mean over the next 200 to 500 years. The human race has existed as a separate species for about 2 million years.

Civilization began about 10,000 years ago, and the rate of development has been steadily increasing.

If the human race is to continue for another million years, we will have to boldly go where no one has gone before.

                      Thank you for listening. "

When you say the AI is not AI, and then proceeded to describe why it's AI, you are the only one acting like an idiot

Ontop of that, you felt the need to act like you're top shit (like you do in most videogame threads) and proceed to tell us peons that if we play the game enough, we'll understand the complexities of it; even though you yourself don't have the game.

I'm not even friends with the people I quoted in my post; I don't need to be. It was to show everyone was just chatting about the game and then you come out of the dark corners of your moms basement and decide to share some already repeated information, as top secret shit that we'll understand in time, if you continue to grace us with your presence.

I'm all for discussion about the game, I just don't see the point of you saying it's not AI and then describing why it's AI- and then acting like everyone else in the topic is dumb

pretty sure i was talking about zombies AI...not the artificial intelligence of the randomization system. From the game, im pretty fucking sure zombies run at you and dont stop, not showing any AI what so ever...but from your perspective, i guess taking my test on blackboard twice in a row and finding out that the questions all of a sudden changed order must be some leet AI huh? fuckin imbecile, learn your shit, its "common sense", like the kid dating a fat mexican chick in a brooklyn apartment, having a kid at age 20, telling me what sense is...you people are losers who back each other on anything on this forum, this is fact, i seen it a million times before. Your sorry e-friends feel the need to bash me cus im picking on their kind

if alot of people are disagreeing with you, maybe it's because you either

                              a) aren't explaining yourself well enough to get your point across

                              b) are wrong

The whole thing is controlled by the program called Director, it's the AI homesauce

I don't even know why you went off the deep end about dating mexican fat chicks and all that other mess, you can't keep losing your cool around us nerds, chief

royCE, you're so obviously somebody who has never attempted to program AI before. By the very fact that you tried to argue that something that is so obviously and unmistakably AI, actually isn't AI but a bunch of 'calculations'. Do you know what those calculations are? Yeah, it's AI. From the randomisation system, to the zombie bots, you know what the collective term is for all that? Yeah you guessed it, it's AI. The fact they move shows AI, the fact they attack you shows AI, the random spawn points show AI. It is making a class/object in a game act autonomously. It is all AI, the very basis of every video game since the 80s.

I once made a game where a frog chases you and you have to get away from it. All it did was calculate the distance on the screen between itself and your character and takes -1 pixel off that every split second. This made the frog move towards you. That was AI. I had to write a paper based on the whole theory of it. Now just because in Left 4 Dead the zombies are so much more intelligent than my little frog, it doesn't mean it isn't AI.

You should see it like this, champ. As humans, we all have intelligence, and some of us really obviously have more intelligence than others, but we don't differentiate between you and us, because for as long as you have two braincells to rub together, it's still intelligence and we can accept you in our utopian world.

For homework, can you state at least 3 of the 7 central problems of AI?

Now I hope you've learned a lesson today, remember that knowledge is power! Next week we shall cover 'Why using Google/Wikipedia before asserting something you don't know much about is a great idea'.

Hey, maybe if you're nice we can let you shine our shoes here in the veteran's corner.
