  • XM Sirius Satellite radio...I hope it goes under!

Are there any subscribers to XM or Sirius...now XM Sirius?

I am not sure what they are talking about when they say merger, as this was a take-over and a bad one at that. The new channel selections are terrible and they have done away with 1/3 of the staple channels that people on XM subscribed to in the 1st place. Interesting that if GM goes Bankrupt, so will XM Sirius due to the radios equipted in their auto's.

Any predictions as to when this will belly-up?

40,0000 cancelations in the month of November already.

I canceled my subscription yesterday on my 2 XM radios. Had taken 2 1/2 hrs. on hold (speaker phoned it) to get an operator, and then I got a run around until I got a supervisor who in few words told me I was correct when I asked if it was due to an overload of cancelations. Odd that the hold music I was forced to listen to would be interupted every 10 mins to tell you to stay on the line due to the many callers wanting to subscribe.

This merger created a monopoly that should never have been allowed. Sirius sucks IMHO...back to listening to CD's and terrestrial radio until I get an HD Radio. If Sirius never gave that asshole Howard Stern the ridiculous contract in the 1st place maybe they wouldn't have teetered on failing and having a takeover of XM. They never got the subscribers they had thought from getting that old fossil Stern.
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

your trippin. I have had XM for about 15 months and i love it. I love the merger, it made the hip hop channels better IMO (66 and 67)

plus Fox sports Radio (142) led zepplin (39) and the Classic Rock stations (40, 46, 49) what the fuck more do you want??

I Do not listen to Hip Hop, They always had Fox Sports, they eliminated 20 music channels from XM, especially Beyond Jazz and two Classical stations. They replaced "Fungus" the Punk channel for 24/7 AC/DC. Not everyone listens to what you listen to, but noting that they are trying to appeal to 14 - 25 year olds, they are losing everyone above that age group.

40,000 cancelations in the month of November is not saying much.

Also note that the FCC will now monitor your pay satellite now too.

Having XM for the past 3 years I see what has transpired. The talk on the net is that they are going under and filing chapter 11 come Feb. Maybe it's wrong, but I doubt it.

          Forgot about Lucy.

They also eliminated Fine Tuning, Squizz, Top Tracks, Flight. I've noticed more DJs talking (and talking over song intro's to boot), changes in the tone of the stations (Korn on Liquid Metal??) and less uncensored channels.

What they should do to keep people, and I still am subscribed until Jan 30, is get rid of the Elivs, Bruce, Dead, and AC/DC channels. Such a waste of bandwidth. Give me back my uncensored rock, jazz and classical channels and for the love of God stop talking over the music! Damn Fuckwad shit ass DJ's. If I wanted that I would listen to standard FM.

That in itself totally amazes me. I listened to Stern back when he was in NY on WNBC. I stopped listening to him when Jackie left. I dunno, but he just seems like a broken record, as well as he broke his one vow that he would never continue on radio with his show if he turned 50, as this would have contradicted everything he stood for when he put down Imus and all the other old farts on radio.

O & A as well as Ron and Fez, IMHO blow away Sterns show. Jim Norton cracks me up.

some funnier moments i remember are when they created the oj simpson song to the lion king music. Seeing who has the bigger bowel movement. Making fun of the government regulations.

Bubba the love sponge completely owns howard stern IMO, even tho he is on Howard 101.

They took away lucy (xm 54) but replaced it with another alternative station that plays the same shit. Same with Top Tracks (xm 46) all been replaced with the Surius counterpart that plays the same music.

In my listening experience the change is Better and i plan on renewing my subscription in january.

Just make sure you don't subscribe for more than a 1/4. I would be skeptical on a 1/2 year or 1 year subscription. If GM goes Chapter 11, so does XM Sirius. Nothing wrong with keeping a subscription, It just may vanish in 6 months.

Considering Honda puts XM in all their cars, don't think that the base will disappear once GM disappears.

Personally, I love the merger. E Street Radio, Jam On, Classic Vinyl! Come on dude, get with itttt.

My Honda has the radio XM ready, but they do not offer it for free for 6 months, of which GM does. At least my `08 Pilot didn't have a free package.

Stock for XM Sirius was at .30 cents a share last I looked.

Satellite radio will be around, and at a cost, but for those that listen to Jazz and Classical...a bit of punk, these stations bit the bullet for additional TALK RADIO? Like I need Satellite radio for a talk show. Plus the DJ's seem to talk over songs and are somewhat clueless.

                            On a different note:

Hey DTF...knowing you like Zappa, did you catch any of the Project Object tour of last and this month? Ike Willis and Ed Mann playing with them. Got a nice recording from the WIlkes Barre show! That and a great video from Germany of Bogus Pomp that's floating around the net.

My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.
