Sponsors pay money just like you see your pro atheletes wear certain brands. It might not make sense to use to pay someone just to get exposure instead of through simple TV ads, but to them it pays off in the end. So it's the same with the pro gaming players/teams who are sponsored and practice all day to play games.

Starcraft is so big because there is no other RTS, nor any other games in general that has such a deep competitive side. You can compare it to this game, as this game is also alive just because of the competitive nature of the game. The only difference is that Starcraft has grown bigger and bigger, and players get much better for each year. The best starcraft gamers (koreans) are pretty much superior to other gamers since they average at ~300-350 apm (actions per minute, that's more than 5 different commands every second).

I'm attracted to this game just because the skill level in this game is infinite, to put it shortly.

I'm not sure how well US and EU players can play on Starcraft as lag is something that I just cannot play with in a RTS game, I'm up for trying tomorrow or whatever. What race do you play ease?

I dont play on normal Battlenet at all, I play in ICCUP.

This is a Battlenet copy server made by a thirdparty Starcraft community which is free. You don't even need a legal copy of Starcraft to play there. I've bought this game like 3 times in the past but I keep losing it for some weird reason. I don't know why but the pro foreigner starcraft scene prefers to use ICCUP over Battlenet. The ICCUP launcher also comes with a feature that improves latency in the game, which is something US vs EU matches can't be without. After you've installed the ICCUP launcher you can either run the normal Starcraft file for regular Battlenet, or you can launch Starcraft through the ICCUP launcher which will change out Battlenet with ICCUP.

.. i was very good with protos and zerg, someday i just killed a hacker he over stuck
zerg buildings really fast.. once i noticed he was cheating i was terr and I just made
a counter with all my units.. lately i learned to play with penguin antihack
now im still playing sometimes but i just try to lame ppl... with edited maps xD....
putting spots with like 50k mineras and others just with 200 minerals xD
of course i got the 50k spots xD now the rule is lame or get lamed xD
