It's sort of interesting to think that the pyramids used to be covered by a coat of shiny white limestone. Imagine seeing that from far away?

Isn't it sort of strange that these buildings just appeared in a culture that shouldn't be nearly that advanced? Think about it, we don't have a hierarchy of buildings leading up to the engineering marvels of the pyramids, instead they're just there. Look at the automobiles of the 1920s compared to now; it's obvious that the modern car was a result of many generations of inferior vehicles. All of our engineering and technological marvels advance in this way, but not the pyramids. They just appear out of nowhere.

I heard that scientists found a spiral pattern inside the pyramids from X-Rays. Turns out there were ramps inside the pyramid that they pushed the blocks up.

You shouldn’t underestimate ancient cultures, I was fascinated by the fact that over 5000 years ago the irish built http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newgrange which on the solstices allowed a shaft of light to illuminate the chamber floor Obviously not as powerful and advanced as the Egyptians it shows that ancient cultures all over are capable of great things.

Also the pyramids became more grandiose as the next pharaoh dynasty tried to out do the last and eygpt had become more powerful etc …

Anyhow you can achieve a lot when life is cheap and the rulers are tyrants :P look at the great wall of china, terracotta army etc the pyramids etc :P


.I used to love when my parents took a drive and took me to see a dolmen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newgrange) or a standing stone… maybe nowadays most kids wouldn’t be impressed but I was blown away that people did these things over 5000 years ado and here I am looking at them touching them : ) I know my friends nowadays aren’t as impressed by them as I am maybe cuase it wasn’t their ancestors that created them hahaha
