why does everyone i know personally not have any instruments (excluding my cousin who's a musician and lives on the west coast), then on the forums, everyone's got one? im the only 1 in my group of friends that owns an instrument (in b4 lolskinflute) which is an acoustic guitar... its a really cheap one from target, was only $100

duurhhh cuase maybe the ppl who are going to post in a thread about showing off your musical instruments are going to post to show theirs ???

also some of those instruments are really expensive and generally only spoilt rich kids get them or someone who has worked hard at music and is a professional or semi-professional.

personally right now in my flat i've zero musical instruments, if i went back to my parents i could probably dig out a tin whistle, harmonica and old acoustic guitar but i don't know how to play any of them cuase i've never had a strong interest nor natural ability in learning music

I have lots of various instruments, but in the past few years I have delved into the arts of becoming a luthier and have accomplished this task making my own guitars today. The guitar pictured below has been re-fit with an internal Roland GK-3 midi pickup and it is played through a Roland VG-88 system.

This was initially designed to be an Archtop, but I preferred the versatility of a flat top but keeping the orchestral body and archtop styled contoured back. I used curly maple for the neck and ebony for the bridge & fretboard. Tuners are Grover roto-matics 18:1 ratio

Building my own guitars has been a lot of fun and rewarding...I personally do not think I could ever purchase another guitar knowing how to make them today.

and soup - the Gibson ES-335 is a dirty guitar everytime i go into a guitar store i pick it up and whale on the thing - if i had the money to throw away i would def start collecting guitars lol

oh and 404- do you make solely acoustics? or do you make solid body electrics too? ps - that headstock is interesting it's actually one i like other than the taylor and gibsons and standard fender's :P

I would have to think about that and quote out the time and materials. Would be an oversized body with a change in the neck to deal with the scale...can be done, but pricey.

I make for the most part, all acoustics. Mind you though, the acoustics are fit with the Roland Internal GK3 midi pickup systems. I think Godin may be the only mainstream maker that puts out a midi system on their guitars, but I really have not investigated it for some time...years.

Using the Roland GK3 and my VG-88 (VG-99 is now available), my acoustic can sound like a Strat or telecaster through a Marshall Stack, tube amp of a variety, fender twin reverb if need be or it can be set to play as if it was a nylon stringed guitar...12 string Rickenbacher, Fretless Jazz Bass, acoustic standup Bass and so on...so many sounds that I do not have a solid body electric...yet. When I do make an electric, it will still be set up with the Roland system...but I will add probably a humbucker or two and a single coil setup.
