Everyone has said what I would recommend.

Palahniuk is good, if a little repetitive. The Brief Wondorous Life of Oscar Wao was good.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski and the Zombie Survival Guide/World War Z by Max Brooks haven't been said yet. All three of those books are pretty frightening.

Have you read Xenocide (part of the Ender saga)? It's on a different keel from Ender's Game, but I really enjoyed it; it was very thrilling.

I would suggest "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy if you haven't already. It's Pulitzer winning non-fiction and a must read.

I re-read Eon recently and liked it as much as I did the last time I read it, so I can recommend that.

I'm planning to read Ender's Game after reading these posts, also planning to read the Shadowbridge series after being recommended that.
