Not too many people on this forum will give a shit about this...except for the usual crew...and it has been awhile since we had a political entry; but this must really be a thorn in the GOP at the moment. With Franken to take his seat and now Spector changing teams, the Senate will be 60 votes for the Dem.'s

Lieberman is also talking of aligning himself as a Dem and not an Independent.

Spector was to run against Pat Toomey in PA in 2010. Looks like this could open the door to Santorum to run against Toomey for the GOP...two f'n idiots that think this country should be run by the words of the Bible only.

He has been voting with the Dem's for while on many issues, especially budget issues. His noting that he no longer felt in line with the GOP makes sense in looking at the voting record he has had in the past year. He was only one of 3 members of the Republican Senate that voted against the party in the previous budget bill.

He came out against Bush a lot during his presidency from what I remember. He's pretty moderate. I guess with the fringe of the party assuming total control it was time to move on... the 2010 election cycle I think it going to continue to go in the Democrat's favor regardless of the candidate so it's a good political move.

hopefully we'll see health care and social security reform. That would make the majority worthwhile. What they shouldn't do is sit on their asses until 2010 and allow the republicans a chance to make a list of all their previous fuckups.

Agreed, but the problem is our $ supply. will they have the money to pull off these major reforms before 2010? Obama and the dems need to get their act together, get some money available, and pull off some policy changes b4 the republicans can get a word in.

Toomey is the poster child for the EXTREME Right. Makes Santorum/Cheney even Rush Limbaugh look like liberals. He is on a religion needs to be a major part of politics kick. One could say he seems to be a poster child for an American Taliban.

Pat Toomey should lose hands down considering how many PA residents became registered Dem.'s and have yet to switch back. PA is more or less all Blue except for a few backwoods old mining towns with 99.9% unemployment and 2 teeth for every 50 people living in the town...mostly in the South West area of the State too. We like to call these regions in PA, Pennsyltucky.
