        Treason
        From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For other uses, see Treason (disambiguation) or Traitor (disambiguation).

In law, treason is the crime that covers some of the more serious acts of disloyalty to one's sovereign or nation. Historically, treason also covered the murder of specific social superiors, such as the murder of a husband by his wife (treason against the king was known as high treason and treason against a lesser superior was petit treason). Also, treason is when someone makes a completely meaningless change of parties in the US Congress. A person who commits treason is known in law as a traitor.

1 : one who betrays another's trust or is false to an obligation or duty

He betrayed the trust of the people who voted for him as a republican. Therefore he is technically a traitor.

Those that were Republican that voted for him are moderate. The rest were Democrats.

Not much betrayal there. People knew what they were voting for since the 70s.

Either way, he became a turncoat, and got fucked for it. I find that hilarious.

Haha, you don't think he knew of the possible ramifications? This isn't even the least of his worries.

Yeah but if you read the article it says that it was supposed to be a given that he would retain his seniority if he defected. I'm pretty sure that it was one of the main reasons he left. I honestly don't think he would have switched if he knew he was going to lose his seniority. Either way, fuck him I don't care.

He would have lost his seat in the Senate if he did not change parties, as Pat Toomey was going to win in the PA Senate Primary. This was move in an attempt to preserve his Senate position in PA. Most Democrats voted for Arlen in the past, because he was a moderate and most PA residents know he was a Dem when he was DA in Philly.

Perhaps one reason they stripped him of his seniority was due to his comment noting that (D) Al Franken should not win the Senate seat for MN, and it should be given to (R) Norm Coleman who now has lost in what...3 re-counts? This was not the thing for Arlen to publicly say and is IMHO is just one of many reasons as to why they stripped him. Noting Specter held the senior seat on the Judiciary commitee and that Souter is retiring...Maybe the Dems didn't want Arlen to throw a wrench into this pick?

Specter is only trying to preserve his job as a Senator...this has nothing to do with party or the peoples he represents...this is self preservation in the workplace as he is financially well off and wouldn't need to work another day in his life.

He is in his late 70's, has cancer and was in the hospital much of his last term getting treatment rather than being in D.C. He had known he had cancer in his last election and witheld his medical info until after he won. As soon as Specter won the last election...maybe 72 hours after, he announced he has cancer.

This guy should just step down and put his inflated ego to sleep, live out his retirement and enjoy life while he can.

If Ridge runs on the GOP ticket for PA Senate, look for Toomey to lose in the primary and Ridge to beat Specter.
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

If you vote for someone specifically because of an (R) or (D) behind their name, you're a fucking fool.

Then you have zero clue as to his past history in the PA GOP party as well as how voters in PA voted.

Specter...was a Democrat before he ran for Senate and only did so in the same manner he is doing today...trying to win a primary.

Most Democrats in PA voted for Specter in the past election, so I guess that in noting that there are more Dem.'s in PA then Republican....I guess he just may have felt he should do the correct move and be with the party that voted for him in the 1st place?

Regardless...he will lose in the next election, so he should have just stayed a Republican and bowed out in the next election in 2010.
