Can anyone explain why Asian girls always look perfect? Why don't I ever see them with puffy eyes or even a wrinkle? What's the secret, TelCat? Do tell.

I do not think it was any different in the past, whether people realized it was another issue.

The words "truth" and "happiness" are too vague to expect a serious, well thought answer. Then again, this IS TW forums.
Ok, fair enough accusation. Well, maybe I should clarify.

By happiness, I mean to obtain happiness (by all means).

By truth, I mean to search for the truth, to know the truth and to behold the truth. Of course, truth is ever so elusive, we will never know all the truth.

But consider the example, if someone you loved dearly was dying from late stage cancer, and with the current technology of science, the chance of her survival was only 10%. Would you accept the truth that she was unlikely to live longer than 3 months or would you wake up everyday, hoping miracle would happen and she would be able to make it and in a way made yourself into believing it?

Happiness is a feeling, it can not be a lie. It is how to obtain it that can be a lie.

Well, isn't truth happiness ... just ... happiness. It does not imply truth. :fear:

Asian girls do NOT look perfect, a lot of them are just ugly (it is not like I am so totally hot).

My mum looks much younger than her real age, but then again both of her parents are 96 and thriving, go figure :greedy:

I can be your girl friend, but not girlfriend ... but since you have not asked for it I guess it doesn't matter :fear:

damn took 25 posts before that got in EPI FTW

The truth will not make you happy and being happy will not lead you to truth. So I would say don't worry be happy.

If the person is going to die then all the hoping in the world will not change that fact. The only way you will be content after the person dies is accepting the truth of them being gone. Why delay the process of accepting truth? In the end you're only causing yourself more pain. You wont ever be happy your friend is dead but you also cannot self-deceive and believe they didn't die.

That seems to be a poor example though. There is no choice between truth and ignorance because you already know the truth, that your friend is dying.

Truth is what appears to be self-evident to an independent consciousness.

No its not. At best its a biological prison in which we locked ourselves inside in order to out-evolute others. At worst its an active oppression of people by the majority.

Happiness is not obtained, it is stamped on you. Once you free yourself from this conform thinking happiness is something you continuously possess rather than archive through choices.

The happiness you describe is a lie, its true form can be found only inside yourself where your word happiness barely applies to it anymore. Thats why your whole question is messed up, it only exists because you define happiness as something opposed to truth which it isnt.
