that would be dishing out money to the record labels. artists make very little from actual cd sales. their income comes from merchandise sales and a fraction of door revenue. we discussed all this in an earlier thread.

I happen to be completely out of cash at the moment, so I've been downloading shit. But I own like 200 CDs, back from when I listened to gay shit like Pennywise, to when I listened to gay shit like The Get Up Kids, to now, when I listen to gay shit like McLusky, Les Savy Fav, and Amon Tobin. I know exactly how that is with Dave Matthew's Band. Guess where they're from, and you've just found out where I live half an hour away from....farking radio DJs, they're just puppets hanging off of statitsticions (SP?) looking at what's hot and what's not.



By the way, so what if a band just wants your money...if it's good music, it's good music. Classical composers (Beethoven, Bach, Mozart...) wrote music for the sole purpose of getting an income, but I'm sure they weren't filthy rich from it...the idea's the same though. You can want to take people's money, and still make good music.
