Penguin love triangle A gay relationship between two male penguins at a zoo has ended after six years - because one dumped the other for a female.

Harry(figures) has left Pepper for another "more attractive" bird - a widow called Linda - at San Francisco Zoo, reports Sky News.
The story has been picked up by many of the leading American newspapers including the Los Angeles Times.
Bloggers have been quick to accuse Linda of being a "home wrecker" who "lives for her own happiness, no matter who gets hurt".
The LA Times reported that Harry and Pepper had lived happily side-by-side, protecting eggs abandoned by other penguins, for many years.
But the relationship came to a "shocking end" when Harry moved into a neighboring nest with recently-widowed Linda.
Pepper has been spotted by visitors walking mournfully back and forth around the pen.
Harrison Edell, a curator of birds at the zoo, noted that Linda's recently-deceased partner was a leader of sorts among the small zoo penguin community, commanding not one but two nests.
"For penguins, real estate means a lot," Mr Edell told the LA Times. "So as far as penguins go, she was a pretty attractive prospect."

I forget who it was, I'll find the thread and edit sooner or later, but someone said gay animals are common and cited this pair of penguins sharing an egg as an example of homosexuality being natural.

How much??? A US man bought a packet of cigarettes from his local petrol station - only to find his card charged $23 quadrillion.

The exact amount was $23,148,855,308,184,500 - equivalent to £14,138,265,398,942,298 - many times the US national debt.
"I thought somebody had bought Europe with my credit card," said Josh Muszynski, from New Hampshire.
He says his appeals to his bank first met with little understanding, though it eventually corrected the error.
"It was all back to normal," Mr Muszynski told his local television station, WMUR. "They reversed the negative balance fee, which was nice."
His nightmare began when he checked his online bank account a few hours after buying the cigarettes.
"It is a lot of money in the negative," he said. "Something I could never, ever, afford to pay back. My children could not afford it, grandchildren, nothing like that."
Mr Muszynski rushed back to the petrol station, but they were unable to help. He says he then spent two hours on the phone with the Bank of America before it was finally resolved.

Bra for men A bra made especially for men is taking Japan by storm.

Mail order company Wishroom started selling the unusual underwear last year.
Unsure of its reception, at first they only produced 160 bras as the start. These sold out immediately, prompting the company to order 5,000 more.
Wishroom president Masayuki Tsuchiya says demand from customers prompted the company to create the male bra.
In Japan, men who wear bras are known as "Bra-o", which means "Bra men".
Wishroom's bras are available in a choice of white, pink and black and retail for around £20. They are all A cup size with chest size ranging from 32ins to 38ins.
According to Mr Tsuchiya, office workers in their 30s and 40s are Wishroom's main clients.
"Japanese salary men have a lot of stress, and the bras seem to relieve that," he said.
Another, more surprising, market has proven to be in their 50s and 60s who, it turns out, also partial to the calming effects of a bra.
"They were the generation we had been told were manly - they led Japan in the post-war period," explains Tsuchiya, speculating they may now be reacting against this stereotype.

Hot dog record broken The world record for competitive hot dog eating has been broken in the US.

Joey 'Jaws' Chestnut ate 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes at the annual contest at Coney Island in New York, breaking his old record of 66.
His main rival, Japan's six-time winner Takeru "Tsunami" Kobayashi, ate 64 and a half, reports the Daily Telegraph.
It's thought the two men ate around 19,000 calories between them.
The first such hot dog eating contest was held in 1916, when the winner put away only 13 frankfurters.
The two men have gone gut-to-gut for almost a decade at the annual competition which was this year broadcast live on sports channel ESPN in the US.
Mr Chestnut, who won his third straight title in a row, takes home $20,000 (£12,250) in prize money and the coveted Mustard Belt.
The 25-year-old Californian's other world records include eating 5kg of macaroni and cheese in seven minutes, and 188 jalapeno peppers in 10 minutes.

The effects that are planned to be studied on the kinetic level are: Laminar and turbulent flow; the transition between both; thermodynamics and self-organisation of complex plasma flows; solitons and shocks; interfaces and plasma instabilities; agglomeration and disagglomeration. For low-frequency excitation and confining particles modulated RF coils and high-voltage supplies are foreseen.
