It doesn't help that the writer doesn't seem familiar with a some of the characters on his list. Deadpool isn't supposed to be the ultimate cold-blooded bad ass the writer is asking for but a fast talking lunatic like what he's criticizing Ryan Reynolds for being. And Jennifer Garner wasn't a good Elektra apparently because she's not Latina. Neither was the character, but that's a minor quibble. And honourable mention to Kelsey Grammer as Beast? That was pretty much to a T.

Incidentally, Ryan Reynolds has reportedly been cast as Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern movie. That seems more of a stretch. Reynolds does seem to get drawn to a lot of comic book roles. Before Deadpool he was playing another comic book character in Blade Trinity. There was word a while back that he was trying up for the Flash before that project fizzled.

I think this brings up an interesting question:

Should comic book villains be portrayed in movies as "faithful" to the source text as possible? Or should they be portrayed in such a way that best fits the movie?

I think there are several factors that go into answering that question.

I wished Reynolds would have played the Flash as it was better suited for his kind of acting. I don't mind a wise-ass Green Lantern though. Hal Jordan was kind of a stiff in the comics anyways.

I wouldn't say that Goode was terrible, but he did play it a bit differently from the original.

Also, why is he hating on Jessica Alba purely based on her other films? I never watch a movie and think, ow look he played a dumbass farmer boy in that movie, he must not be able to play someone smart. Given the entire movie and cast, Alba did not seem out of place.

This writer is crazy.

Cillian Murphy killed as the Scarecrow. He more than matched Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart's performances.

Meh, the guy did a great job as the scarecrow but I have to say that Ledger played the part of the Joker exceedingly well, although most people probably just say it because they feel bad that he died. Some of the nervous ticks he incorporated into the role were great, and he went above and beyond what was required from the role I think.

Id like to see daniel day lewis or even johnny depp attempt to be a villan

the riddler in the new spiderman movie (i think that is the name? guy from broke back mountain i think)
