With superficial I mean that with most Americans that I met it doesn't go beyond: hey, how are you doing, how was your day? O really, that's nice.
Americans are nicer in the sense that most will say hey, how is it going, and that most Dutch people just walk by you with maybe just a nod of the head or something. But a lot of times if you do actually talk to someone in the Netherlands, it usually goes deeper and I noticed that with most Americans it stays rather superficial, except those who have an interest in international affairs or other countries.
Like in most of my classes when they found out I am Dutch, it was like, well that's cool, how is it going? Do you like it here so far? Well that's nice, but they didn't really wanna go further than that, I tried a whole bunch of times. So the Americans that I actually call my friends now consist of one guy who was originally born in Afghanistan and has been living in the US since he was roughly 8 (is American now), one girl that was born in Finland, moved to the US when she was 5 or 6 (also American now). Then a couple of Americans who play football (soccer, whatever) of which a couple are interested in studying abroad as well and a bunch of other people who are really interested in international stuff, one girl is going to China soon to study there for 6 months, another is going to Thailand to teach English.
That's what I meant with superficial.
Well, that and Panda.
Ow en Nycle, het klopt dat Muncie zelf een gat is, maar de Uni is wel tof hoor, daar is altijd wel veel te doen en wordt van alles georganiseerd. Ik ben misschien ook maar twee keer in Muncie zelf geweest.
