Downloaded this, been playing Firefight with a friend and it's alright.

I think I'd hate to play it single player, it's depressing as fuck.

Glad I didn't pay for it though.

I've got it. I played through some of the campaign with my brother, it seems fun enough. I don't really follow the story line and the feel is much like any other Halo. Firefight's a neat challenge. I would suggest probably saving the money and renting it to see if you have to have it.

Does anyone know how to get the Reach Beta? I got an insert for an invitation, but so far I've found nothing.

This feels nothing like any other halo, period. You're not MC, and anyone thats played all the other games understands that when they jump into a normal patrol of 3 grunts and a brute and dies instantaneously to 2 brute shots. Dual wielding is also removed, and you need to be much more resourceful to complete missions since you cant just overpower 3 brutes at once anymore. The grenades are thrown way different and the ODST is much more of a bitch in general, but the single player has a very weird feel to it. I wouldnt say its 'sad' so much from what I've played, but it is interesting so far. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes FPS's and anyone thats a fan of halo most likely already has it

Thanks for posting, and i agree, firefight is like the only decent thing lol. its a heck of a lot of fun though! You just cant beat playing as MC though!

The grenade change is actually really annoying. You get used to the way they're thrown in campaign, but in regular multiplayer, it's still the same: double you tee eff?

I really enjoy the soundtrack though. At one point a saxophone was playing this serenade while I was heading into a pack of grunts. Also, the man jumps pretty high still for a non-Spartan.

This. It was originally supposed to be an add-on. By why charge $20-30 when you can charge $60, right?

I really enjoyed it.

I've beaten the entire Campaign, which was a lot of fun. It's a lot more stealth oriented than other Halos, because you simply can't do what the Master Chief can do. Frankly, you can get owned by a hunter if he even has a single guy with him. The visor is a cool and interesting addition, but it's too 1 dimensional. You can barely use it at all during the day. The map is cool, actually helping you avoid patrols and/or set up sneak attacks. All in all, who is really buying this for the campaign though? I thought it was fun and a nice diversion, and I loved having the Serenity/Firefly guys in it again.

Firefight is pretty cool, and can be pretty difficult. It seems in almost every level there's no single one spot you have to stay to survive, because almost every spot has a second way in, so you get flanked no matter what. The new pistol isn't as fun as I had hoped, as it has basically no power. The silenced SMG is fun though, so I guess it makes up for it. All in all firefight is a good time, expect when 2 hammers and 2 hunters come at you at the same time, that part isn't so fun.


If you like Halo or Stealth shooters, get it. If you don't, why are you reading this thread?

What else is there? Other than firefight and 3 new maps? It's Halo 3 which is a really fun game. But I already own Halo 3, why would I pay $60 for 3 maps and firefight? That was my problem with it. If this was $20-$40 I would have picked it up for sure.

single player story mode is almost depressing, well the feel of it is...and no dual wielding weapons which sucked...but the missions have a different feel to them, they tweaked the weapons a bit like the pistol and i dont like how the plasma nade is thrown but game is still good cause its Halo
