So I got pulled over by a cop last week, and he asked for my license and registration, I gave it to him, but I asked him what he pulled me over for before he walked back to the car. He said he saw me not wearing my seat-belt and I told him I had my seat-belt on since I started the car, and he said that's not what he saw. So I was pretty pissed but I figured I'd just fight it in court, well he gave me the ticket and then I noticed there was no dollar fine on it, so I figured maybe it was a formal warning, he didn't really clarify it. Anyways, since there was no fine I figured it wasn't a big deal, just let it go. Well I looked at the ticket again and there's a mandatory $55 fine for not wearing your seat-belt (it says it on the back of the ticket). Another caveat is that he never had me sign anything, so I just shredded the ticket. Big Mistake or no?

Why? I never signed anything, as far as I'm concerned I was either never there or I never got a ticket. You can contest it but unless you have a witness who says you never got a ticket you're going to lose. They don't ask you to sign anything when you get tickets. He's got a log of your license number, when and where he stopped you, and what for. I am not sure how it works over there, but don't tickets work based on license plate? So if he logged your license plate, but someone else was driving your car, you should figure it out with whoever was driving your car or?
I mean, if you get your picture taken over here, the owner of the car gets the ticket and he has to pay, it's up to her to settle it with whoever might have been driving his car.
55 dollar isn't even that much. I once had to pay 150 Euro (200 dollars) for having my phone in my hand while driving, I wasn't even calling or texting anyone, just had it in my hand to check the time and put it in my phone holder exactly when that cop drove by.Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.Comment
