Omar and Snoop are definitely my favourites.
Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

what is he doing with himself. i didn't realize it was smart guy until i read the description and before that i couldn't tell if it was a dude or a lesbian

the av club's top 30 of the 00s list? i've only seen 5 of them. i want to watch Dexter and maybe Mad Men. but mad men is on AMC, so how good could that be

be careful if you read this thread, there'll probably be spoilers

not even gonna try to rank the seasons and i don't even know what my favorite would be (3 or 4).. but i think its pretty clear 5 is the weakest one

the reason this show is so awesome is that all the characters, even the minor ones, were so well developed.. and i just didn't get that in season 5.. maybe cause it was much shorter, i dunno. the whole newspaper thing was meh.

bubbles was great in it throughout though, definitely the highlight of the season.

Honestly, I think its too early to judge Season 5 still. It took me a couple years and rewatches after season 2 came out to not think it was complete crap compared to 1 and 3. I'd still say season 3 is the best though, followed closely by 1 and 4.

But yea, the great thing about this show is I'm on like my 6th rewatch of the entire series on dvd (maybe second since the last season), and I still pick up new shit. Compare that to the Sopranos, which is also a great show... but after the second or third watching of the series you can pretty much recite all of the dialogue by heart.

I'll go ahead and save you some trouble with Mad Men, the shit where they are in the office brainstorming ads is great, but the rest of the family drama is garbage and almost completely turned me off to the show. Add that to the fact that only the last episode of this past season was as good as episodes from previous seasons. Pretty disappointing.

And as far as that list goes, by putting Curb Your Enthusiasm (the best sitcom ever) at 21 and Dexter at 24 pretty much kills it. Those are both top 10 shows. I can't argue with the top 3 on the list... Freaks and Geeks was a really good show, but number 4? No. Mad Men at number 5? No. Can't see how you can have those two shows at 4 and 5 when Curb and Dexter are easily better and are ranked in the 20's. And I also question how you can have Deadwood at number 9 and not even put Rome or Carnivale on the list considering all 3 of those shows are HBO period pieces and are pretty much equal. I'd still probably say that Deadwood and Rome would be top ten shows though.

I disagree. Season 5 certainly had the most outrageous storyline (McNulty "creates" a serial killer...wtf?), but that's because it was a vehicle to tell a story about the media, not the police. In an interview shortly after, David Simon said that if you watch the fifth season of the Wire, you're meant to see all of the stories that the Sun's reporters missed. Basically he explains that the first four seasons lead up to the fifth season. All of the other seasons are about Govt. institutions, or the groups that are tied up with them (police, criminals, city council, schools, unions), but season 5 is about a citizen institution. The press is meant to work for the common good of their constituents. Instead, they work for self achievement, petty disagreements, and awards. He's trying to show the importance of the press and argue that the role of the media is to keep watch on local culture/politics. Of course, he chooses not to indulge himself with a happy ending and instead gives the Pulitzer to Scott the douche.

                  Fave characters:

                  -Omar
                  -Bunk (especially when he's drunk)
                  -Chris
                  -Michael
                  -Senator Clay Davis (sheeeit)
and I guess McNulty is aight

I really, really liked season 3 where Colvin set up Hamsterdam.

Favorite character has to be (surprise) Omar, with Bubbles and Brother Mouzone coming close.

One of the best TV-series I've seen by far.

Mad men seems like something I would enjoy as well. Dexter is simply a kind of show I wouldn't.

edit: also, numb3rs is the worst fucking show i've ever seen.
