FPS - Halo

I played all 3, but none of them have yet to give me the joy of the first one. Playing local LAN tournaments has yet to be surpassed by the online play of 2/3, although talking shit to the xbox live community HAS provided countless hours of entertainment. I've never seen a game so balanced despite the disgustingly imbalanced 3 hit kill pistol.

RPG - FF7

FF7 is really the only game that got me hooked from the demo that came with the ps1. Not only that, but it held my attention through more than the whole game to do all the extra stuff and I think that the whole RPG scene these days is missing something from that game. Borderlands, Oblivion, Fallout 3, DAO and numerous other games all scale the NPCs to your current level giving you basically no reason to level up. FF7 perfectly balanced scaling the game and giving you rewards for devoting more time for the game, and had some of the most fun minigames of any game Ive played - my brother and I played the snow game in the golden saucer for ages trying to top each others' fastest times.

RTS - toss-up between rise of nations and AoE2

I'm in the vast minority with this. I never cared about starcraft that much. Its a far superior game I know, but I always liked those 2
