xog, i suppose drug use could be a potential culprit. i hadn't thought of that. i've really cut back on drugs though. when i was in college, i was basically a functional junkie. now, i only smoke the occasional bowl/blunt. the only regular abuse my body sees is alcohol, but even that is moderated. i'm not getting tanked day in and day out.jasonofabitch loves!!!!

something else i just thought of:
there was one brief period where i was able to gain weight and keep it on. i was on a shit ton of medications as a part of treatment for bipolar disorder. one of those meds was lithium and, if i remember correctly, i was taking somewhere in the neighborhood of 900mg per day. the lithium made me pack on pounds. i went up to 160.
i quit all meds cold turkey back in 2006. now i very rarely even take an aspirin for a headache. and after quitting the meds, i rapidly returned to my normal weight.
@fit: my lifestyle just isn't conducive to regular trips to the gym. i work very erratic hours. and i generally average 50-60 hours per week. i value my free time too much to spend it pumping iron.jasonofabitch loves!!!!

You could also just be eating smaller portions compared to the bigger folks. Stomachs do stretch, and they can stay in that stretched size for as long as you allow it to. If you have a small stomach, you can still be eating until you're full and will feel like you're eating a lot but in reality it's still a smaller portion compared to someone else. Also, I tend to eat my food extremely fast. Eating at a slower speed will make the food move farther in your body while still eating not as much, which will also make you feel full without eating as much. Basically, if you eat faster you eat more, which stretches your stomach, thus allowing you to eat more the next time. It's like a domino effect. (haha, Dominos...)
That's something I have to stop doing. I've always been told to slow down when I eat. :\

I'm 6'1" 160 and I thought I was real skinny until I saw Jason's height:weight. XD.
Working out really does increase body weight. I did easy workouts but ate a shit ton of carbs (pasta, rice, etc.) and gained about 20 lbs in a month. That, with very simple short workouts.
BTW, what I also used was a whey powder. Get the good concentrated shit with strawberry flavor. Just make a quick drink with a scoop of it. And workout for even a few hours a week, and i guarantee a change.
If I ever got up enough motivation I would do what I just advised. But, I currently see no reason IMO for me to gain weight. Been skinny all my life, why change now?4:BigKing> xD

I think it's a good idea to tax junk food. But only if the taxed dollars go into something worthwhile, like creating trails/parks or going into food banks or something.
I lead a generally healthy lifestyle and lift/run/bike at least 4 times a week. I don't drink soda, but I do eat rich foods like real butter, olive oil, eggs, fried chicken, etc. and have managed to keep my weight at 185 (I'm 6' tall) for the past three years. Which is pretty amazing considering that I've worked full time and started grad school. I do notice fluctuations in my weight if I start drinking soda/vitamin water, or if I am lax on my excercise schedule.TelCat> i am a slut not a hoe
