also, jason 2 nights ago as i was trying to fall asleep, i was wondering how/when dispatchers tell the cops where to go. do they put the caller on hold and radio the cops? or send them a text message? i couldn't figure it out and decided i'd ask my internet friend jason.

Technically Jason is closer to the cooling towers at Limerick than he is to Philly BTW Jason...there is a guy that sets up at the Limerick Firehouse parking lot with in the Spring/Summer/Fall that sells the best smoked Texas brisket above the Mason-Dixon. If you ever get the chance, stop in and grab this guys menu and some food!

Not advertising at all. Jason lives maybe 5 minutes from this guys setup. Noting he just moved there not so long ago, and the fact that I suggest a place to get some great food that is close to him, is not advertising.

If you have never had Texas Brisket, then you have no idea as to how good it can be as well as having someone so close to your home supplying this.

@ilya: depends on the situation. if it's an extreme emergency (i.e. someone's getting shot or raped) then you can hop on the radio and dispatch the cops while you're still on the line with the caller. if it's something less serious, say a noise complaint, you can just get all the info and then dispatch the cops after you disconnect with the caller. the 911 center i work at is underfunded, so we're behind the times and don't yet have digital paging (text messages).
