So, I'm going on a cruise mid July. I've never been on one before. Here's the itinerary:

What's it like? On board there's going to be a casino, a pool, whirlpool, waterslide, min-golf, a casino, bar, sushi trolly, spa, an arcade, dance club/lounges.. i've never been outside the US.. I'm getting my passport soon. What's it like in the bahamas? What is there to do besides drink and lay on the beach?

Nassau is a terrible city unless you enjoy tourist traps (the "white people" part of town) or serious poverty that borders on scary in some areas (the "native people" part of town). I got drunk on the street and walked around a couple of bars but I had more fun buying some cigars and booze, smuggling them back onto the ship, and sitting out on the deck at night with friends.

I wasn't a huge fan of cruises, but it's not the worst way to go on vacation. I don't care much for that other stuff (arcades, mini-golf, rock climbing, etc.) but gambling, drinking, and gorging on food are all fun. Being around droves of people is also kind of unnerving for me personally. If I were going to do it again I'd go somewhere more interesting than the standard port city places (Nassau, Cozumel, Cancun, etc.). We went to a private island one afternoon and that was gorgeous, of course. The Caribbean is a beautiful area, just really poor and really touristy in all the places you'll go.

I'm just going with my girlfriend, her parents bought the tickets for themselves but they gave them to us for $200 each (who the hell is going to turn that down?) cuz something came up.. we got a balcony room, and she's been on one of these before with her parents when she was like 13.

I'm definitely finding a way to sneak some liquor on board the ship. Too fuckin expensive to keep buying drinks. I'm definitely hitting the casino hard tho

ahh cruises can be fun. I sent my folks on a cruse using my marriott points last yr. They cruised to alaska and saw the borealis. My dad said it was cool for the first 10 or some minutes.

I like shuffleboard with old people.

Then maybe I go to the kitchen and get me some shrimp.

when you stop on the islands stay in the areas you're told to stay in, and drink as much as you can since it's fucking ridiculous to get drunk on a cruise. by the way it might sound appealing to take a water bottle and fill it up with a shit ton of alcohol from a local k-mart in the bahamas, but seriously dude look into what the punishment is before you commit the crime. if they just confiscate it then why the fuck not try and smuggle it on, since a bottle will cost you under twenty bucks in the bahamas and provide you a great deal of enjoyment during your time on the cruise.

if you want to drink cheap find a young bartender (sexual preference jokes aside) and give them $20-40 and ask them to hook you up. bartenders don't make shit on the cruises since it's stupid expensive to pay for drinks and people are less likely to be generous when a beer costs them ten fucking bucks. if you give someone a 20 and they give me three shots per drink instead of one you'll be piss drunk by the end of the night.

Sounds exciting for you and your girl! What a nice get away from smelly old new york. :P

When you're on the islands, you guys should do something adventurous, that you'll look back and always remember. Like, rent a sailing dinghy and sail the coast a bit. Go on a fishing trip. Kayaking is easy and fun. See if you can rent a glass bottom boat and take it out for snorkeling. Enjoying the natural geography of a place, especially a new and lovely beach island is great for a rich experience.
