Alright guys, need your help / advice. Me and a bunch of my friends are planning on goin on a road trip in the US / Canada Region this summer for about a week. I'm 20 and all of the people are 18-20, so that kind of rules out drinking / gambling for the 18 year olds for the Canada idea. Could you guys / gals give me some ideas of places to go , that has fun things to do / sites to see , that won't bore the shit out of us.

    Appreciate your help

Since you can't all drink and your dollar is on par with ours, there are no obvious benefits in going to Canada. Also, the only city really worth visiting, in your range, is Toronto but that would take away from going to any good American cities.

If I had to a week to leave Ohio and come back, I would probably do a loop like:
            Pittsburgh -> D.C. -> Richmond -> Charleston -> back

A week is not a long time at all.

Look for festivals taking place in the certain areas you wanna hit. It's always a staple to visit the typical sites when visiting a new city, but the addition of a festival of some sorts can make the time you spend in a particular city a whole new experience, but this may be for the older gen. people to check out since you state you only have a week.

2010 Newport Folk Festival (July 30 – August 1) and the Newport Jazz Festival (August 6-8)

                    2010 Montreal Jazz Festival (June 26 - July 6)

                    2010 Toronto Jazz Festival (June 25 - July 4)

There are tons of other events in every city big and small, but it depends on when you travel and what you really are looking to see when you travel, as well as the extra perks of being in that certain city while you visit, such as food, sites to see and whatever from sports, foods such as BBQ cook-off's to music and the arts.

If the oil from the gulf doesn't wrap around to the East Coast, you have shore communities with inexpesive motels/hotels up and down the coast of which that in itself have so many attractions during the day and evenings. WIldwood, NJ, Ocean City, MD for example are interesting areas to hit if you like the ocean and a good nightlife that does not rely on being over 21 and drinking

Map it out and then investigate the areas you want to hit during the month/days you will be in that area.
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

thanks that does help, however most of my friends im going with don't really enjoy jazz or music festivals, we are more into sports and just doing stuff outdoors but at the same time we need a good night life, the east shore seems like fun, and im sure alcohol is everywhere we go so thats not a big deal, but I'm lookin for somewhere everyone will enjoy, and east coast soudns like fun, I just gotta check out the night life scene

If you're all 18 go to Montreal, that way you all can get loaded and have a good time. There's a casino connected to the subway line so if I was 18 and wanted to gamble, get shit canned, and possibly smoke myself silly I'd go to Montreal. If you go to Ontario the drinking age is 19, and besides going to Toronto for a night or two there's not a lot to do for minors. I can't really think of a place besides Quebec, specifically Montreal that caters to young people unable to do things elsewhere. Also If you're going away soon I'm pretty sure there's going to be more riots and crazy parties as Montreal moves forward in the playoffs.

If you're going through Michigan, I'd go north before cutting into Canada and end up somewhere in Sarnia. Bring a tent, find a liquor store and camp out along lake Huron. Depending on the time of year the water is amazingly warm and the sandy beaches are great to relax on. A couple hours later you should be in Toronto, it's a fun city and worth seeing but probably for only 2-3 days. From there I'd head out towards Montreal, possibly stopping in Ottawa. I'd want to spend the bulk of my time in Montreal to be honest.

                            Ocean City, MD info: http://www.ocean-city.com/

As for sports, you have the Orioles at Camden Yards...great stadium to see a game at. There is also Wash D.C. only a short drive away...tons of stuff to do in DC this time of year as well. You also have the Washington Nationals if you want to catch a game there as well check out their new Stadium. Of course there is also Citizens Bank park in Philly if you wanna catch a Phillies game on your route to or from an East Coast shore visit. Nice thing about the Mid-Atlantic, is it is a short drive to and from each city/town. One other location I forgot to mention is, Rehoboth Beach, DE (http://www.rehoboth.com/) Can do Wildwood, NJ, then take the ferry across the DE Bay to Rehoboth and then follow the coast down to Annapolis to Ocean City, MD. Hardshell Crabs...Yum...just thinking of the Chesapeake Bay area.

Cops gave you some great info as well on the Montreal deal. I was going to do the Montreal Jazz Fest this year in June/July, but had to pass...maybe next year. Never had a bad time in Montreal!

                            Whatever you decide, enjoy yourself!
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

I live in Texas so I'm not too familiar w/ all those Yankee cities up yonder :P

I hope you have fun though! (Do the beach if you can though - Inland isn't so fun when you're only 18-20)
Um....I'm pretty sure you have to be at least 21 to rent a hotel right? Maybe that's just here in Texas. I haven't been that young in a while so who knows. You should definately check that out though.

Oh yeah, don't run out of money. Been there, done that.
