Oh no doubt, but even if the state is technically "Southern" in geography, it's not Southern in heart!

On a random side note, when I went to California like 5 years ago, I opened a door, in whatever fast food restaurant I was in, for this lady...She looked at me like I was crazy....like I wanted something in return for opening the door for her....Ma'am that's just Southern Hospitality

I think i wrote a similar reply to a similar thread a while ago, But if you guys want to take more of an outdoorsy route, PA or NC really isn't too far from ohio (relatively) and there is some excellent hiking along the appalacian trail, and its fairly affordable to spend a day out on a river. there are TONS of companies that host white water rafting trips...its usually a day long event, with lunch included.

Otherwise, head up through michigan, catch a tigers game in detroit, and pop across the bridge for a night or two in Windsor, or Toronto if you feel like making the drive. It was my understanding that the drinking/gambling age is 18 there, but I could be wrong

If you do go across the border, plan ahead and make sure you all have your passports handy

Scurvy, from what I can tell you're an intelligent guy. So how can someone who lives in a border state (bordering Ontario, no less) not know a simple fact about the neighbouring country?

Weak, since you've mentioned you like the outdoorsy stuff, I would say Cops' idea is a good one. Regardless of the direction you choose to go, there will be some state/national parks along the way and those are usually good places to check out and will usually have good camping in the area.

well my assumption is based on the fact that I made a roadtrip with some friends when i was 18 and had a pretty wild night without getting carded once. Apparently it was a fluke, although i suppose a 30 second google search could have cleared things up.

edit: also that quote was out of context.

i'm doing the same thing this summer, weak, and also have been trying to think of ideas. me and my buddies (from minnesota) are pretty settled on renting a house boat and going down the mississippi river, getting fucked up (hopefully no DUIs on the boat!) and camping out on the sand bars. also, if you happen to be going through minnesota, the gambling age on the indian reservations is 18, so you might be able to have some fun that way. the casinos aren't anything too special though, and if you plan on paying poker, you'll have to play limit, unfortunately. i'll also be going to chicago to the charter one pavillion (near soldiers field) for a two-day concert. we went to the same concert last year and the band ended up recording it and making it into an album, and my friends got on the back cover! also got lost and drove through the chi-town ghetto and saw some fat black hookers.

                  Try going white water rafting.

Here is a website that may give you more information on doing so in the northern part of the U.S.

this. First time i went was class 3/4 (between three and four).
the rapids themselves were fun, but there were a lot of stretches that was just a pretty lazy river. A very small percentage of the ride was actual rapids
