The European Commission has recently approved growing genetically modified crops for the first time in 12 years, putting the GM lobby's profits over public concerns -- 60% of Europeans feel we need more information before growing foods that could threaten our health and environment.

A new initiative allows 1 million EU citizens a unique chance to make official requests of the European Commission. Let's build a million voices for a ban on GM foods until the research is done. Sign the petition below and spread the word.

If we can get one million (1,000,000) names in the petition our voice will be heard due to the EU regulations.

afaik this petition is supporting a ban on growing, not selling, of GM crops

if you want to wait til the science is out, how can you research something you can't grow to research?

as far as i can tell via searching google, status quo law requires companies to label food that is GM, in the EU. i can't find any mention of this regulation being lifted.

i support the nature of the petition but unless i see some better news sources than the ones i found, i just don't understand the point of it...

With the current global food deficit, exploding population, booming bio-fuel industry and increasing demand for meat in Asia, there is a distinct possibility that food is going to become a much more valuable resource. The price increases over the last 10 years will seem trivial in comparison.
Good time to invest in as much agricultural land as possible.
