As for the magnetic poles...
It seems like you guys are talking about 2 different things. Imagine you took a magnetic bar and placed it inside an inflated balloon. Further imagine that the South pole of the magnet is at the nozzle. So, let's say you flipped that magnetic bar. Did the magnetic flow actually change? No. But is the Noth Pole at the nozzle now? Yes.

That, in essence, is the theory. And instead of dealing with a solid bar like in the example above, you're dealing with magnetized liquid. A gravitational force is causing the liquid to change directions, thus disturbing the current's equilibrium. Simply take a balloon and fill it half way with water. Then swish it around in a single direction as fast as you can get it go, and once you have it going as fast as you can get it to go, then switch the rotation in the complete opposite direction. The liquid will clash and go in multiple directions relative to the whole. If the liquid is magnetized then you will experience North and South poles at various locations on the perimeter of the balloon until equilibrium is once again achieved.

Hume and his 'skepticism' is in general fail. If the real truth isn't something we can obtain and know for certain, then how can Hume's philosophy be true? Everyone who reads philosophy are, and should be aware of the flaw and paradox in his philosophy.
