I create this thread with both caution and optimism. I have recently stated that squads in Continuum should be adapting to voice-over programs such as Mumble, Ventrilo, or even TeamSpeak. I have bought a Ventrilo server for my squad Portal and hope that given time this will enrich the feeling of community and coordination while participating in squads. I have not actively played continuum for some time now, however I have seen the benefits of using such a program in games like WoW, and Darkfall.
Communication is essential in team based sports, on any level. Video games are not so different. DoCk> actually created a public TeamSpeak a couple years ago and it was popular amongst a number of people. I'm opening my server up to Trench Wars, however this is a sort of testing the waters sort of deal. I can't afford a 200 man Vent server on my own, but if there's a need for one then I think the community will step up. I am perfectly capable of providing a vent for under a hundred people, the only issue is if the demand surpasses my ability. Right now I can foot the bill, however the number of slots that the server will have is limited. I will do my best to increase them as the demand increases, please be patient though. There's a huge benefit to being able to directly communicate with the people who you play with, and my hope is that squads check it out and realize that they might want to look into getting their own Vent. If squad leaders are interested I am willing to setup channels specifically for them and their clan members.
My squad has a private channel and various people have been assigned administrator. I will try to make people accounts as I receive requests. I'll try to assign people to admin to help me out, as I work full-time and have various commitments that does not allow me a great deal of spare time.
Also, people who read the forum but currently don't play Continuum are welcome to check it out. You do not require an account to connect or use the vent.
Cheers,
Cops
