Medicine From other Countries

So my uncle gets back from Costa Rica and he has 3 big boxes.My Uncles hands me them and says here you go nephew. Two of them are filled with prescriptions of Amoxicillin and the other box Zithromax aka { Z-pAK ). Here is my questions. Is there any way to see if these are legit not that I don't trust my Uncle but i do question quality? The packaging seems to be spot on nothing ripped or open. Its not like X where it can be tested i guess for certain ingredients. Has anybody from the US taking foreigners medicine which is not to our standards. :toff: Cause if this shit is legit 100% ANTIBOTIC YIPPIEEE

Check the expiration date. I know some doctors who go over to other countries with expired meds. They're still perfectly good, but you can't use them in america past the date.

Well I have a lot of pressure from Vatican now but I will go ahead and post what I was going to say anyways despite the spotlight being on me.

1. Who the fuck brings back packs of antibiotics from other countries?
2. Why the fuck do you think you should randomly be taking antibiotics?
3. Do you really think you will need antibiotics before the expiration date?
4. Who the fuck brings back packs of antibiotics from other countries to give to people as gifts?
5. Shouldn't take antibiotics anyways, need to let your body learn how to fight off infections.

Not a good idea.

I'm actually taking a class this quarter about the underground economy - one of the major things that they make, especially in south america, is counterfeit prescriptions. They use cheap filler material to make a lot of the pills and little, if any, real medicine. Are the pills a color other than white? Chances are that they dye they used to make it that way has lead in it. Does the packaging look legit? Well no fuck, of course it does - they're in the business to sell meds that are fake so they have to make the packaging spot on.

My two cents? Don't do it.

i know this isn't very precise, but im sure you could find someone with a old bottle of amoxicillin (i love how any bottle that's not a painkiller or narcotic in one's medicine cabinet never gets 100% used). try crushing up a pill and comparing color and texture under a microscope as well as taste.

sitting on boxes of scripts seems like a neat thing to be sitting on if it's actually legit. ask your uncle how he came into possession of them - i know alot of prescriptions are supposedly easier to get below the border so maybe he just bought a shitton of meds because hey, amoxicillin could be very useful

........... Can't you get a freaking amoxicillian Rx for like $5 at wal-mart or Target now without insurance? They're such common drugs in the US anymore they shouldn't be expensive with or without insurance. Yes yes, I know you still need a doc to prescribe it but come on now.........

Amoxicillin is super handy to have at hand, but you have to adjust your own dose. Both of those would more then likely be legit since costa rico has one of the finest healthcares in the world.

bunch of other stuff online about how open to counterfeit sales Costa Rica is. They may have a nice system, and I do not doubt that there are good pharmacies and such there; but other factors make it a great climate for people to abuse and take advantage of people with bad drugs.

Couple of these articles are a bit old ... then I find another website (here) where Costa Rica hosted a summit recently on tackling the fake drug problem so maybe it's much better there now in late 2011 than it was in 2004-2009

Hahaha ok ok, first off Cuba and Costa Rica and all these other countries don't have good healthcare, basically the doctors there are trained to throw tons of fucking antibiotics at you and hope one of them sticks and solves the symptoms. If you have insurance or money America actually has the best healthcare in the world in terms of diagnosing problems and fixing them. Just wanted to toss that out there.

Costa Rica has to have a few decent places solely based on the fact of how many retired, rich American jewish folks live there. Now as for the rest of it....... scary I'm sure.
