If you have used many social things online through out the years, from 90s AOL chat rooms to today's boards, you will note that Ohio has a disproportionate amount of people online, even being one of the higher populated states. The same is true for Australia. The rust built region is sociable and so and also parts of washington like Tacoma are similar to them.

For instance back when people were more likely to add each other and do IMs, or do chats, the Ohioans & greater rust belt were most present where as the large cosmopolitan cities or the heartland were least present.

I just went to Tacoma and can confirm that it is a pile of shit. There is this place from diners driveins and dives called southern kitchen. It is a piece of shti and I will never go back. The only saving grace is the tacma dome which is amazing

The best part about America is the Dollar Menu. I'm so fucking broke right now but food is so fucking cheap. We also don't have Spicy McChicken's in Canada (from what I've seen), and a normal McChicken costs $3-4. If our money wasn't near parity I'd be super fucked right now.

Its good, you must know how to shop and spend your money, and if someone else doesnt, thats not my fault. You could never walk into a European store and get a $4 bottle of melatonin or diphenhydramine for insomnia ( a very common problem today ), youd instead visit a clinic where they would give you expensive prescription extra weak melatonin. Youd never have a NewEgg like electronics store to have a wide choice for low prices. In Europe, youd never had a Dollar General to walk into and get things like cheap soap and 6-blade razors that are better than Gillette.

Supplements are very important to me and the US is the place to be for those too. Europe would consider things like Alpha Lipoic Acid & TMG an unnecessary obscurity, and there would be no site to buy bulk bags of them for far less than brand name pills.

In europe there is no such thing as gallons of purified water, just some single serving bottles in their "Petrol" stations. They think buying gallons/liters of water causes global warming.

People should use the American market to advantage instead of making fun of it saying things like its overblown consumerism. Its their own fault if they make bad buy choices.

I was in a wendys en route to oakville, and bought a medium spicy chicken combo for something like $7.75. They handed me the smallest looking hamburger i've ever fucking seen, and the DINKIEST looking fries and what looked like an insulting kids-size drink. Had to call the cashier because I honestly believed I just got gypped, but she confirmed it was indeed a medium and not a Kids Meal or a small. That's when I saw the "small".

And this is supposedly the universal "small" in Canada? Saw this "small" at Tim Hortons, and a lot more.

But then I macked on some poutine and a burger from Hardees. Props to that establishment. Got me full for under $8 i believe.

Wendy's Spicy Chicken is the best chicken burger available at any fast food joint in Canada. It's fucking delicious, however some shady shit has happened in the past year. Wendy's chicken burger has significantly decreased in size to the point that it's not worth buying. I love them, but the values not there thus I won't buy them.

Another company that has reduced sizes but increased prices is Tim Hortons. The size of their cups are roughly half what they use to be. It's actually pitiful to pay for a small coffee, and be charged more than a dollar. A large at Tim Hortons is still smaller than a small at McDonalds. Interesting enough there has been a shift in early morning coffee goers. McDonalds has been aggressive in offering weeks of free coffee, as well as offering a small coffee and a muffin for less than two dollars. It's something that Tim Hortons hasn't been able to compete with. Tim Hortons use to be about quality, the donuts were baked fresh on location by a baker. Now the bakers at Tim Hortons are microwavers, to save a couple cents on each donut they are made in a factory, frozen, then shipped to each location. The quality is sadly leaving that company. If You're going to get the same shit food at Tim Hortons that you would at Tim Hortons, then why not go to Mcdonalds... It's cheaper.

I think you went to Harveys, they are renowned for having some of the best burgers in the fast food industry. They're real, taste good, and are better for you than Burger King or McDonalds. Prices on food should have come down when our dollar went up to par, however prices have not been fully re-adjusted and I'm not sure that this will actually happen. With the Canadian dollar on par, it's better for me as consumer to spend my money on items in America as opposed to Caanada, especially if you're doing school shopping or buying electronics (be weary of warranties though). Here's a common example of this, all books have a Canadian and American price, try to go into a bookstore in Canada and pay the American price which is $15 as opposed to the Canadian price, which is $28. The bookstore clerk will tell you no, even if you have American funds on you. Our money is worth relatively the same amount, why are consumer goods in some cases double here then there? It's fucked up.

Like Epinephrine said before, Canada is on a 13 year housing boom. The life cycle for the boom should have been roughly 8 years, but international investors have dangerously driven up the prices. Young CANADIAN couples looking to invest in a home aren't, simply because the prices are astronomical compared to our salaries. To stabilize all the Chinese investors buying homes in Vancouver, which artificially increases property value everywhere in the country I would be in favor of not blocking off said investors but discouraging them from making a profit by taxing them more harshly. If prices don't come down, there will be less and less Canadians who own their own home. Nothing pisses me off more then knowing that this country has more useable land than possibly every other country in the world and it's still almost impossible for some people to own their own land or home.
