I also played in closed beta and will probably not be buying it.

It just felt like a clunky version of torchlight.

Also, much of the reason i poured hour after hour into D2 in gone. No pvp under any circumstances, operates on bnet 2.0, no stat customization, mmo style skilling. It just doesn't seem like diablo, seems like WoW applied to torchlight.

Maybe in a bit after release.

I just bought final fantasy 1 and 4 for ps1 and am taking the power back.

It seems like games are catering to care bears, making them easier so more people can "access" them, i.e. dumbing them down. Being able to switch your stats and skills at any time infuriates me. The real money auction house seems very wrong to me on a spiritual level, basically it turns a game into a job.Ii hate mmos cuz you pay monthly so you feel like you got to play all the time or you are wasting money. I suspect the real money auction house will turn fun into work. It's just the wrong state of mind for gaming.

I don't get people complaining about not being able to allocate stat points on level up anymore.

For basically every build but a select few (energy shield sorc being the most prominent i can think of) it was always STR for gear, DEX for max block, and the rest into VIT, and no sane person dropped anything into Energy. Fuck, I made a fishymancer, put all my points into VIT and made it through hell without too many issues.


That said, I cannot fucking believe there's only THREE WEEKS LEFT until Diablo 3.

Wark, you are a man after my own heart. I couldn't get into any FF games, but FF Tactics was my favorite game. I have played it completely through with all the secret things unlocked and everything many times. Getting the summoner's spell from deep dungeon was always a pain, though. I heard you could get dark knight for Ramza but was never able to pull it off. Figured it's a sham.

Oh yeah, I definitely still play diablo 2. I have a trap assassin botting almost all the time. Doing chaos runs and baal runs. Fight the power.

PVP. Or you can sell it on jsp or something else. I just sold a few accounts the other day. Waiting until this trapsin hits 99 before selling it as well, should be another couple weeks.

Personally I really liked the skill system (played in the open beta). Instead of being totally ??? when choosing skills and just guessing which one will be worth getting (or going online to find a guide), I can actually try different versions out and decide for myself. I haven't played a lot of d2 and no multiplayer there, but I liked how I could just pop into a game with friends without needing 20 mins to set up a play session. To be honest I don't really miss min/maxing the shit out of attribute points - I feel like now I am left with more meaningful choices that affect my build instead of spending a lot of time tinkering with numbers. Also, I can iterate on stuff and figure out what's fun FOR ME.

Ended up buying it based on my experience with the open beta.

Played it. I'm not a huge fan. Put too much WoW into it and took too much Diablo out of it. Also the whole skill system is really strange and seems too limited, even for diablo.

This is what I thought immediately. The game sort of breaks down the old demographic (people who have played D1 and D2) and the new demographic. They tried to get a bit of both, so I have friends who have never played diablo who likes it, and friends I play D2 with who dislike it.

There's a lot of little issues I have with it, like how the barbarian makes a magical hammer appear. He's not supposed to have magic! GRR <nerd rage>

Well the barbarian can use warcries... On the accounts I sold I had a war cry barbarian that would teleport around(with enigma armor) and cast War Cry a billion times to kill everything. 10 second stun with around 2k damage. Pretty amusing to play with. But I understand, pretty much all of the people I play D2 with are against D3. Most of them say they won't even buy it. (I play on US East, btw.)

hey that's great you could do that in d2 as well by rolling another character. look at a guide? wtf is wrong with you, testing out new builds is what makes this game fun and replayable
