if not, check out house of leaves by mark danielewski. if you can get past the rather tiresome footnote stuff, it's a mindfuck and a half.

I used to like R.A Salvatore back a few years when I still read alot of fantasy, him and Robert Jordan, but you already covered that. Also, Terry Pratchett, always Terry Pratchett.

Pratchett is brilliant. Love discworld. Salvatore was just... shallow. No substance. Discworld is just hilarious. Doesn't get any better than that for a good laugh.

I didn't realize this was strictly fantasy, but my point stands. Best historical fiction book there is. Required reading for a few military branches.
