Contrary to "Entitlement Society" Rhetoric, Over Nine-Tenths of Entitlement Benefits Go to Elderly, Disabled, or Working Households

The American Democracy is so broken that voting hardly seems to matter any more. With superpacs, silent superpacs, both parties saying no because the other party came up with the idea.
Even something that seems as simple as voting for money to help victims of Sandy becomes difficult.
Another problem is explained by this video:
Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

The U.S. is not a Democracy, but rather a Republic. They are not the same. When voting in the US, it usually boils down to the lesser of two evils in many a case for local and regional elections and for the Presidential elections, South Park summed it up well with the two candidates being a "Turd" or a "Douchebag".
Having elected idiots making pledges to Grover has not been a positive as well, as these elected criminals take an oathe to uphold the constitution and serve the constituents that elected them and this gets put on a back burner when it may break the pledge they gave to one ofthe wealthiest crooks in the U.S.
The Constitution these days is basically a used square of toilet paper. Look at some of the laws passed that ignore the constitution such as the NDAA.Afterall, what American citizen would ever need to have habeas corpus? This is no longer a rite as far as the NDAA ruling notes.May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

Of course they do, they are well known to be a left leaning liberal organization. For ever link that can be supplied supporting a liberal view point another can be supplied for conservative view point, I am not seeing the value in posting these kinds of links.
Take your point about finding a job. I agree that it can take years to find a job that you want. But no one can convince me that it takes any more than a few weeks to find any job that will pay the bills. So for me the question is, do I want to pay for those people who feel entitled to having a job that they want. I worked many fucking jobs that I hated throughout my career, as have millions of other people. WTF gives anyone the right to be entitled to having a job that they like?
Another entitlement example is my mother. She is elderly and truly feels that she is entitled to all these various benefits. Not only is she not in any real financial need, but she has never contributed into these funds anywhere near what she has already gotten back from them. The issue here is one of demographics. When the politicians set the amounts of money to be withheld years ago, they did it based upon the average person living to an age of 65. Trouble is millions of people are now living much longer and at much greater expense. This is exactly the same situation with the current amounts being withheld, these asshole politicians are playing the same guessing game with the amounts being withheld and the national debt. Trillions of dollars of debt are dismissed by them with a wave of the hand and a giant assumption about the state of the American economy, and demographics, will be in 25-35 years from now. IMO, this is an incredibly dangerous game and one with long odds that it will work out favorably.
And in regards to entitlements and ‘sharing the burden’. Why does this have to be mandated? What happened to family? What happened to friends and community? What happened to being a member of a church or other religious organizations? Why are not these support structures not looked to as being the system that assists people in need as opposed to allowing politicians put their fingers into the money pie? You do understand that forcing the ‘sharing of the burden’ is really more about allowing a federal government and politicians to control the money? I simply don’t see the value in having more people in the Department of Agriculture than there are actual farmers in this country.
I am all for helping people who need a hand up, I do it often. I also spent the better part of my life building companies that have given literally hundreds of families a steady paycheck and food on their tables. But I am here to tell you that bullshit that comes from Washington, both liberal and conservative, is killing this country. We are headed more and more to the ‘I deserve entitlements even if I sit on my ass’ instead of understanding that if you don’t work you will fall on hard times.

Lol. Do you also feel rich kids should have to work as farmhands? There's a funny thing about money ...
Maybe they don't feel entitled to that job, maybe they just want that job.

just wondering, but how do you define 'working household'
saying 'disabled' can also be a wild card at times.

The unemployment question in this thread has been about whether or not we should be paying for people to continue to get paid into their third year of unemployment. IMO this reflects the ‘I only will take a job that I LIKE’ as opposed to ‘I’ll take any job for now so I can pay the bills’. Frankly, when I hire people I always put more stock into a someone who has a job history that shows they are willing to take a job below what they have trained for (so they can provide for themselves and their family). It is a huge ‘warning sign’ when someone walks in with a resume that reflects no job at all for the last few years. Although I should add that I also will put stock into anyone who at least has been volunteering and staying busy. But hire some guy who has been sitting around collecting unemployment benefits for 3 years, not likely by many more people than just myself.

Your rapier-like wit is overwhelming. But there is an element of truth in your post, I have solicited and received resumes through TW and even made a job offer to one qualified person.
Of course I only can impact ‘my little corner of the world’ but do what I can to make jobs and help people provide for their families. So what have been your contributions to society? Your inane ramblings on some obscure blog and space game forum? I saw the pictures of your chest and take my word for it, there was no significant contribution there either.

For your infomation, your government could easily create 20 jobs by making people dig a huge hole and create another 20 by making people fill it up. Creating jobs does not necessarily mean adding values in the society. If you can not create more than average wealth per standard hour then your business is likely to fail, especially in a recession in a capitalist society. In my opinion, GFC is exactly caused by too many people employed in industries that add little value to society (i.e. investment banking).
What's my contribution to the society? I create innovative apps, those apps got a bit download and currently I am getting consistent amount everyday without any marketing effort I can get 10k downloads this year (which I am trying my best to turn into 10 million in the next couple of years, probably not happening, but never hurt to try). I know those apps are not polished and they are not commercial success (not yet). You can even tell me they are not that innovative, but true innovation comes at a cost, with my current budget I will not be able to create something that is truly unique. That is not to say I will never turn one of my 'crazy' ideas into reality sometimes down the track.
Honestly, I think you are just mad at me for creating those self promotion threads. But I do believe some of my apps, after some polishing, can be useful.
And how many times people have to bring those pictures into a discussion, seriously, that happened more than 10 years ago. Maybe I should post less in the future, because as unimportant and insignificant as I am, I am paranoid there are stalkers (plural) reading my past posts, not realising I was not serious on some 2d spaceship forums.☕ 🍔 🍅 🍊🍏

I don't know the amounts in the US, but if you run out of unemployment benefits (I believe there is a maximum of a year now) and have to switch to welfare over here, you're not doing it for a fancy life. Welfare over here puts you at the bottom and not many people are on welfare because of all the wealth it brings them. Welfare is just barely enough to cover the costs for a tiny shitty apartment and food, not much is left after that.
Making an educated guess given the US and their view on socialism, I don't think welfare is a source for riches over there either.Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.
