Sorry for bringing up dead thread, but here are a couple of items that makes "abortion" terrible. Mainly, it goes beyond what epi said about life after birth:

Hey PJ I am still waiting for that list of addresses of ex-Pallies squad members to be passed on to G0ddess, so she can stalk them one by one (in my fantasy land, she also turns into a serial rapist targeting younger males who frequent gaming forums).

That's like saying we should legalize rape and teach men the way to do it more safely, so as to try to avoid as much long term trauma as possible. I mean people are going to do it regardless of legality, so why not legalize it and make it a little safer for all parties?Originally posted by Epinephrine View PostWhy is this a bad point? Please explain.
As a simple example, before Roe vs. Wade in the USA, thousands of women died every year in underground illegal abortions.
If abortions were banned again, this would happen once again. While modern medicine has created many more ways to safely do abortions, if it was illegal, then people would have to seek out someone willing to break the law. There would be a good chance that more than one of these underground clinics would be doing it in unsafe or unsanitary ways, thus endangering the lives of women in a way that legal clinics never would.
Explain why this is a bad thing to bring up?

Hey assholes, can you hurry up and figure this issue out? I'm tired of feeling conflicting emotions every time I eat a "Moons Over My Hammy" at Denny's.

We should definately outlaw alcohol guyzzzOriginally posted by Bioture View PostThis is a point made when people engage in political framing. Underground abortion clinics are indeed horrendous. If an abortion were to be done in extreme cases, we need legitimate places to send people. This idea was more prominent before Roe v. Wade, as a majority of the states actually deemed abortion illegal. So instead of traveling to New York or some other distant location where one can get an abortion when requested, people turned to more drastic measures and used doctors that were not qualified to perform the procedure.
Ps: Not everyone can afford a NY trip

I agree, and right now abortion is already not legal long before that (in most areas).

What about the view that the baby isn't a human unless it could survive outside the womb, even with the best medical care? I don't even know when that point is, but that's the logical starting point for me.

Your point might be made better if it were balut instead of eggs. Eggs are not fertilized. Balut you're literally eating a pre-hatched chick inside the egg.Originally posted by T3l Ca7 View PostIf abortion equal to murder your unborn fetus, we need to consider the following:
Are we eating eggs or are we killing unborn chickens?
I'm actually pretty sure you're trolling at this point.
Also, chicken omelets are pretty messed up, but they taste good.

I get what you're saying and realize that nothing hinges on that one aspect of your reasoning, but it is one that has always driven me crazy to hear irl, as it is a very bad point to have back up your view.
