It was not an issue of it being in a quote that has caused a split debate among forum/upper staff. He isolated it in the quote, quoting ONLY the N word. He intentionally had isolated it in his reply quote, and hit "Post". He did not report the post, or directly message forum staff about it, if his intention was to make us aware of it.
For those reasons, the ban is currently standing, but Im expecting it to be discussed further in upperstaff chat. I've yet to get any solid argument against the points I made, and most against it are against the harshness of the forum rules in general than against the situation he was banned for.

A quote is not a license to cloak racism in a post and then use the rules to say it's okay to do. Forum rules are a shield, not a sword. However, your statement does raise an important concern because quoting racism by a third party has never been addressed by staff in a substantive manner. This may be a time to re-examine this issue and draft policy to clarify our position on it. But as to what Shaddow said, the matter is being debated, and we will have to decide ultimately what is the best course of action for all those who received infractions.

Cres wouldn't have done it for any other reason than to point it out to staff. There's something narcky or snitchy about using the report button (and honestly, with the way these twforums sometimes are, does the report button even work), it's obvious cres saw racism and pointed it out, and he probably did it to show that he's more on point about catching it than staff is :P

After my ban, i realize that another person had said the same word on the exact thread that I had been banned on and another guy had the word in his forum sig. I quoted the guy and wrote 'lol' only to find myself banned for 7 more days.

1. These forums have always been a self regulating place with 0 to little need for staff intervention. Recently however, faggots such as shaddowknight and azov, have managed to ruin the entire atmosphere of the forums by literally being mall cops and power tripping.

2. Use fucking common sense and reasoning instead of taking a few outdated rules to heart here. Give warnings and move on. There is no need to ban people over minuscule things such as this. Go all out if someone is linking child porn or whatever but really?

3. Why are these pieces of shit (shaddowknight and azov) even forum moderators? We have way better options than a couple of newbie faggots who just joined the forums like a year ago. They do not understand how the forums work and shouldn't even be given ANY staff powers in general. They either lack common sense or are just trying to makeup for real life shortcomings by being mall cops.

He is pointing out that someone used the n-word, for which he recieved a previous ban. He's not being racist. its dicussion, not name-calling.

Moderation of the forums in regards to the in-game racism policy is still a relatively new thing. In addition, with in-game racism policy changes in the last year, some discrepancies become apparent. From the new in-game rules,

We are FORCED to keep the N words against rules. If we moved to our own server/biller, we could (and should IMO) remove all racism rules, and just go based on harassment when it happens and goes too far.

If memory serves, Priitk requires the n-word to be on the obscene.txt. However the forums do not have this restriction. Want part 2/2?
