I was recently escorted to one of these facilities by two large black men who woke me up at four in the morning. My parents paid for me to be sent their with the best of intentions, but the information they were given could not have been more wrong. These facilities utilize a type of point-based program which, through "working" the program, you are supposedly able to graduate, as a contributing member to society, within a year. I personally met kids who had been there for 2 and a half years or longer at the facility I was sent to, Casa by the Sea in Ensenada Mexico, and they were not the minority. Average completion time is 18 months and parents are flat out lied to about this. Every aspect of the program is based on keeping you there longer so the mother company, WWASP, gets to pull in $4,000 a month, per kid. At my facility, there were at least 500 kids. Upon arrival, I was put through a process of desocialization and immediately expected to assimilate into the "program". what i noticed, however, was that nobody there actually went with the program. They just learned how to cover up their actions better. I experienced a deep depression which is why i was lucky enough to be pulled. I went through this because of the utter hopelessness of my situation. You are not allowed to talk on the phone with your parents for at least 4 months. All contact with parents is monitored and if you try to describe the horrible conditions you are put through, you are accused of "manipulation"; a crime that was punished in the same way as fighting, and self inflicted injuries, even though it was supposedly on the same level as standing without permission. The conditions i referred to that would make any parent pull their child immediately are:
1)being forced to sign legal documents (student visa etc.)
2)refusal to see medical professionals until some major visible symptom became noticable
3)parents sign a waiver that allows their child to be "restrained" however, restraining involves being thrown into a wall, put in extremely awkward positions by large staff memebers and even other, more advanced, residents
4)building code violations that would make an OSHA inspector die laughing
5)unsanitary conditions that ended up in rashes, scabies, foot fungi, bug proliferation, and countless other bad things
6)i was there for less than thirty days and i witnessed two fellow residents attempt suicide
7)all contact with parents is monitored, children wo complain or beg to come home are accused of lying and manipulation, the parents are, in effect, just as brainwashed as the children are mistreated
8)no outside monitoring of any kind, basically anything goes, and talking about it is a big offense
9)the WWASP foundations is closely tied with president bush and is basically immune as far as legal retribution goes. also its run by mormons, from utah. they spend as little as possible hence the out of country location. other facilities like this have been toppled by riots and deaths, this one needs to be next but not by such extreme measures.
i could go on and on but i wont because im lazy like that. if you have specific questions, any, erm.. useful.. computer skills that you wish to use to help me get this place screwed majorly or shut down, orother stuff, my new email is closedownca@hotmail.com and i will have a lot of free time since i am going to not return to my destructive ways anymore so ill be on the forums alot.
here are some nice links
http://fornits.com/anonanon/docs/wwasp/toc.htm look at the testimonies, Casa isnt quite as bad but reading that brought back grim memories
www.wwasp.com this page is good for a laugh, if youve been to the program and you see this, it makes you want to vomit with rage.
i would like to add also that if these facilites ran as advertised, i would gladly attend one for the entire duration of the program. however, the brochures my parents showed me after taking me out could not, and i cant stress this enough, have been any more wrong.
thanks for your time
