Best Emo/Indie Rock band?

Half the posts in this thread remind me of that scene in Annie Hall where Alvy and Annie were waiting in line while some snotty media professor is talking about Marshall McLuhan, and Alvy starts to disagree with him, and then Alvy pulls out the real Marshall McLuhan who says

idlewild is a good rock band, not sure what genre they fit into. They just finished a tour with Pearl Jam. Subb is also good but I think they fit more into the new punk - ska genre.

the guitars for this band isnt just the tipicle rock band power chord change, this band has some pretty moderately difficult guitar lines, expecially that the lead singer is playing them and singing at the smae time, that takse skill

Nirvana played power chords. They are better than Coheed. And playing and singing at the same time doesn't make you a rock god.

Facetious id like to see you pull of those notes he sings and play the stuff on guitar he does while he sings, he doesnt just play chords he plays a mix of single string and chrods, and most of the stuff he plays singing i cant play without singing

and nirvana was more popular and curt cobain was a good singer

Alkaline Trio isn't really emo (they're more punk..err pop-punk), although they show emotion in their songs. And most of their best CDs are on Asian Man, not Vagrant. And yes, they rock. :/

I can personally play while singing (as can many talented musicians) which makes me come to the conclusion that you are either playing too hard of guitar or not talented.

Nirvana was a great band and were definitely not "simple".

How the hell can you say every band on Vagrant is emo when Rocket From The Crypt is on the label? As I pointed out earlier, they have horns.
