I gOt VIrUs

Kz ... now I have no problem with the virus. But I still can't play SS - my screen won't stop shaking @_@

Just how many damn protocols does SS use? Because of this 'accident', I decided to turn the security level on my firewall up from medium to high. It started to ask my permission for every protocol it uses and there were like 20 popups with the messge:

'Do you allow the following protocol, XXXXX, blah blah blah'

On top of that, the firewall scan thru all the data streamed into my PC ... which with the help from my ultra slow CPU makes my screen shake as if there is an earthquake

But other then this, it's all good!

Kz, full story of what happened ...

Before my 1st format, I have burnt all the data and programs downloaded from the net on to 6 CDs. It took about 3-4 hours. Then I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled win2000 and the MS patch.

I didn't realise that the patch was empty (coz I accidently deleted stuff >[/color=red]_[/red]< so although it looked as if it was installed, it did not work as it supposed to). So within an hour after I had hooked up on to the net, I got virus thru the unprotected ports already. And some of the programs were behaving weirdly.

The next night I installed some Anti-Virus software. It didn't detect any virus. So I downloaded the updates for the software. Then magic happened @[color]_[/color]@, popups flashed on the screen

'You got Virus!!!'

I was like 'Wah!' and I left my PC on all night for the anti virus software to clean up the system.

10 hours later, it wasn't 2/3 done (don't you just love those anti virus softwares? they work perfectly well when you DON'T have a virus, but when you do, hah, they prove to be completely incompetent!)

That night when I got home, anti virus software has finally finished its mission. There were files that got quarantined because they couldn't be cleaned. There comes my bad habit, I deleted those files just because I felt like it. >_<

Some programs still behaved weirdly. So I decided to format my hard drive again.
This time, the command 'format C:' didn't work!!! I was forced to use 'fdisk' first, and only 4.8GB out of 12GB of my harddrive was detected, on which I installed win98.

Then my ADSL installation wouldn't work, so I had to download the damn updates for MS using my 56K modem.

But now it's all good. My PC has been working properly for 10 days!

The story didn't end up there ...

3 days after I fixed up my PC, I caught the flu and gOt the real VIrUs. I had 2 major assessments during that week and I didn't feel like to apply for a special consideration. So I turned up for an exam and a major presentation with sole throat, running nose and red eyes >_<


Oh my, you think that IS IT???

Now I have fully recovered from cold. Just 2 days ago, the light bulb in my living room expired. Since I live alone, I had the full responsibilty of changing it! But it was on the Saturday and local shops were all closed. I had to drive to shopping centre to get it.

Then ... I discovered that my car wouldn't start!!! It didn't give any warning, I drove it the day before and it was perfectly fine. Now my car is in the garage where I always go for maintenance, except this time it looks like I need to spent serious amount of $$$ to fix it :'(

I always have shitty luck like this ... but since I always have shitty luck like this, I am quite calm or should I say even a bit unconditionally optimistic in this kind of situations.

I formatted my PC twice in the last 4 days ... to no avail, it seems that everytime I reinstalled windows, I got the virus back in less than 2 hours (AND TY I HAVE INSTALLED THE PATCH FOR WINDOWS).

And don't you love those virus scans? They work perfectly well WHEN YOU DONT HAVE A VIRUS. But once you do, haha, they seem to be completely incompotent. I left my PC on all night for the virus scan to run ... and 10 hours later, it's not even half done.

I'd like to take this oppurtunity to laugh at telcat...
