Prodigy isn't at all rap, they may have some samples and do a little jungle, but jungle isn't really rap either.

As for those who put tag of music on each gender, like bz was saying, I'd definitely go with the women's side of music as opposed to hard metal "male" music. Metal 'music' (and I use that term loosely) is just God-awful... there's no substance; no emotion, no melody, no beat, and no civilization in this music.

Rap music (again loosely) is just as bad as metal (even worse because people actually listen to it), though it has a "beat" (a very tame and suck-penis beat at that), it's been the same thing for 10 years and the image is just as unoriginal as the songs and artists. I am dumbfounded by the public mass encouraging these makeshift artists that get lucky because they were exposed to the public in the right way.
I’m watching a rap video on mute right now (the only way to watch it w/o wanting to shoot yourself); do I see anything that hasn’t been done before? No, I don’t. Rap is a hideous cliche eating away at the minds of the public faster than urine eats snow. And it’s not dying because all these derivative ignots want to fit in and be part of the crowd, what mindless douches. If people actually like it, I don’t have a problem with that, maybe it is good music, but ffs people (in general) stop playing it everywhere you go it’s already overplayed as it is on mainstream radio.

My theory is that, women are more implicit while men are much more explicit in general.

One of my professors once said 'women communicate thru much more channels than men', what he meant was that man listen to the words and music only while women also pay attention to the 'feelings' inside of those songs.

Personally I prefer hip hop to heavy metal because hip hops give me different sensitions. Some songs are soft and give me this nice feeling inside, while other songs are implicity flirty and they make me feel sexy. Some songs are sad, and if you listen to those songs at the 'wrong' time, they can potentially cause tears

On the other hand, heavy metal cause nothing but annoyance ... at least to me :/

I've always loved heavy metal but never had the chance to listen it with my female friends since they all dislike it.. I know for a fact that for them it's not about being 'in' but simply about the aggressive nature of metal (even if it's not DIIEEE BLOODDDD DIIEEEAARRGG type of song, but one with real lyrics).

The reason is that most women find metal too aggressive (or depressing if it's slow). For many ppl (at least for me :P) music is a way to channel my feelings and to get some extra adrenaline kicks. Many women however don't have the 'need' to channel anger/get those kicks since we usually just chit chat things out.

If you really want your girlfriend to start re-thinking her attitudes to metal, try making her listen some slower metal songs.. women find the a bit depressing ones more appealing that the ones that give you the kicks since they often are like sad lovesongs (or then its just my Finnish way of thinking)
